books 2014: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Retreat (S8 #6) by Jane Espenson

This volume bothered me for a few reasons. It was definitely good to see Oz again, don't get me wrong, and I liked the internal conflict that seeing his new life brought to Willow. But, okay, they want to lose their magic and hide, so they go to all this trouble - but just a few volumes back, a gang of Japanese vampires had a spell ready to go to remove their Slayer powers. Granted, the vampires wanted to kill them, but still, if B & Co. really wanted to lose their powers, um, hey, spell ready-made for that exact purpose, no yak-milking needed.

That said, the goddesses were pretty cool, and it was nice to know that Riley was on Team Buffy all along (but wait, didn't he have a wife? What happened there?).
