hey. i figured i should give y'all an update, since i went away and had a great weekend and everything. so i had a great weekend.

okay, really. on friday night i went to susanna's halloween party, and that was really fun except that dannbrown couldn't attend. then jorn didn't feel well so we left kind of early, which was okay because i needed to get some sleep so i could fly to greensboro in the morning. which i did. i had no problems at the airport, no problems with security or my bags, didn't get sick on the plane, no layovers, took off and arrived on time. basically an ideal airplane experience. rhett and jeff got there just a few minutes after i did, and we went to Old Town for lunch. i missed those fries. damn. later on saturday, we got some pizza and hung out with xina (whose head did not explode from all the cat hair, miraculously) and j.t. and jay, and it was fun. then rhett and i drove jeff back to his place, stopped for taco bell, and stayed up late watching Regarding Henry, which we talk about watching pretty much every time i go to her place and never do watch. so it worked out well.

sunday we slept in a bit and then picked up angie and went out for brunch to the Green Valley Grill (the restaurant at the O'Henry hotel). it was a very nice place. the only problem i had was that my fruit crepes, while delicious, disappeared too fast, so that i was hungrily watching angie and rhett pick at their food. oh well. then emily, xina, and sarah picked me up and i helped them with their shoe shopping (me being broke, i didn't buy anything, and i would've had to take it on the plane anyway). emily and i judged the Ugliest Shoe Pageant at the SRI Shoe Warehouse, and boy, where there a lot of shoes in the running. i don't know what's wrong with shoe designers nowadays. they're making converse-style sneakers (the kind i always remember paul wearing, or dan albergotti) with a spike heel. DOOD. what the phuck, greensboro? anyway, it was really fun. then rhett met us at the Stone Cold Steve Austin Creamery at the friendly center for ice cream. again, it was good (but mine was a little too sweet, and xina's upset her tummy later in the evening). after ice cream, rhett and i hung out at her place; she got some planning done for her classes, and i watched Hush from season 4 of Buffy just because i felt like it. then jeff came over and we played some Hero House (a new card game) before meeting angie at the movies. we saw Mystic River and i thought it was really good, but angie and rhett were disappointed because they had heard so much hype about how good it was so it couldn't really be that good. then i met jay at tate st. coffee and we talked there till they closed then came back and sat on rhett's stoop and talked there for a while longer. it was really good to see you, babe.

monday. rhett and i slept in, then went to waffle house for brunch. i got cheesy eggs and raisin toast and scattered covered hashbrowns and bacon, and rhett got scrambled eggs with regular toast and scattered smothered covered hashbrowns and sausage. yum yum yum. we were stuffed. we stopped by to see jay one more time and meet poor marilyn the cat, and then we popped over to ed mckay's so i could drop $10 on some books (rhett sold some books but then bought Redwall by Brian Jacques on my recommendation, thus making an impressive 20 cents on the deal). we hit the convenience store for some cokes and then we went back to rhett's. we watched Disharmony from season 2 of Angel, and then we watched a few scenes from the last few episodes of that season, where they're in Pylea ("Numfar, do the dance of honor!"). then we played Scrabble, and it was a game of champions. Not one, not two, but *three* bingo bonus words made it onto the board. I put down ENTWINE (also creating WE with the final E) and scored 77 points. then i picked up my seven new letters and got TONGUES. i put it down on my very next turn, changing TICK into STICK, and scored 88 points. rhett then began to despair, but she came back with the impressive PALAVER and changed JAR into AJAR, and scored 78 points. the final score was Rox - 393, Rhett - 302. we were very impressed with ourselves. neither of us had ever made a bingo bonus word before (i had with dann, but never on my own). and after that, we had just enough time to get me to the airport, where my flight back to boston was just as ideal as my flight to greensboro.

i realized on the flight home that i really did need this trip. it was a good thing for me to do. i missed my friends and i got see a lot of them, and i realized that they missed me too. i think i figured out some things, and i don't think i'm going to be so sad anymore. it's still going to be hard until i find a real job, but i'm going to find something, and i'm not going to let it get me down so bad. really. inner peace, y'all. it's going to happen. and i'm going to start writing again. maybe not this crazy week, but soon, because i need to. that's the plan.
