now, dear, we shouldn't be taking our squabbles to other peoples' communities or friends lists. ;)

And I only make fun of phrases that make no sense. If "come with" made sense, I'd be ok with it. But anything could follow that "with", not just "me". It's wide open, because it's not established throughout the language like the understood "you" in a command. Pockets of people do not a society make, be they from Chicago or PA or wherever. It's still a colloquialism.

And I certainly don't say any of this to be mean to you. As a grammar whore yourself, I'd hope you can understand that I only bicker about this for the good of the language. :)

yeah, but hon, you were downright mean. i'm kind of hurt, actually, that you would say such things about your "girlfriend", as if said girlfriend is some sort of hick from the backwoods of PA, in a public forum, when you know that said girlfriend, who is no hick whatsoever, will be reading the comment. it felt rather vicious to me. i know that i can be mean sometimes, particularly in a discussion like ones we've had on this topic, but i never brought it beyond the two of us, and i've never been intentionally vicious.
