music: new cds in Portsmouth
Jun. 28th, 2005 12:22 pmThis weekend I bought several new cds from Bull Moose Music in Portsmouth. Good deals on them, too.
Adrienne Young & Little Sadie - Plow To The End Of The Row (Sarah B and I saw them at the Boston Folk Festival last fall, and I remembered them all this time--I've listened to this several times through already and it's gorgeous)
The Be Good Tanyas - Blue Horse (Ran across two of their songs on a mix cd someone made for Jorn, and they're lovely. This cd has both the songs, so I thought I'd check it out)
Dar Williams - The Beauty Of The Rain (got it used. I wasn't sure I wanted it since I wasn't familiar with any of the songs, but I do love Dar, and since it was used it had an interesting quirk: I noticed that a previous owner had leaned on the cd while writing a note that said "LINDA I love you - D". So how could I *not* buy it? and so far the cd is excellent)
The KLF - The White Room (So what if "3am Eternal" is one of my favorite, favorite songs from my adolescence? Plus it was packaged with the single for "Justified and Ancient", so I got two cds for the price of one)
I considered buying the Ben Folds live album which came with a dvd, but decided against it--I have all those songs, most of them the live versions as well as the studio versions, so I don't need to buy them again. Also decided against the first Buffy soundtrack (though I think perhaps, just perhaps, I might receive it for my birthday next month, since Jorn offered to return it to the rack for me). And Jorn found the specially packaged dvd version of Royksopp's Melody AM, so he bought that and I bought his original ordinary copy, which I was happy to do since it's an absolutely amazing cd. I would keep track of music the way I keep track of books but I think that would be complicated. Oh, and Jess, did I tell you Jorn downloaded Joanna Newsom's album for me and I totally love it? She's so wacky and sweet.
