I just checked my VPS balances (vacation/personal/sick time balances). Even after SUUSI in July I still have six days of vacation I could use, and I could be out sick for three weeks straight if I needed to. It's nice to know.

I've noticed that on days when I do yoga, I have a lot more energy in the evening. On days when I don't do yoga, I feel really good and limber and I'm always stretching and yawning, but I also get tired much more easily. This week was a case in point: Wednesday night I didn't feel like doing any packing and just wanted to sit around, but last night I was pumped up and determined to move a load of stuff to the new place.

Last night was a great night. Jorn went to a movie while I worked on the moving (which I didn't feel bad about because he was working on moving all weekend while *I* was having fun, and besides which it turned out to be a bad movie). I brought all the trash outside (at least, all the moving trash, which was a lot) and then packed up a load of stuff in the car and took it over to the new apartment. When I got there I moved all the boxes in and then unpacked the two biggest boxes, which held blankets and sheets and towels, because I have a linen closet at the new place. There are now linens in my linen closet. This makes me squee. Then I drove home and brought the two now-empty boxes upstairs to be packed with other stuff, and then I decided to treat myself to fro yo for dinner. I ordered banana and chocolate syrup, and then went out to move my car out of the driveway. By the time I found a parking spot on the street, it was starting to rain, so I figured instead of going all the way home for an umbrella, I'd just walk fast, right? Well, it poured. A lot. And it felt so good to get rained on after I had worked so hard and gotten so sweaty. I showed up all drenched and the cute guy at Cafe Kiraz put my fro yo in a plastic bag so it would be easier for me to carry home (they usually do paper bags but it would've gotten wet through). Then I walked home in the deluge. I was really happy. When I got home I took a fast shower because the smell coming off of me was unbelievably bad, and then I dried off and settled down to eat my fro yo and read a book. The Jorn came home and he and Dann and I were hanging out chatting and then I fell asleep on the couch. It was a good night.

Jorn just pointed me to [livejournal.com profile] potterpuffs, which has probably the cutest fanart in the world ever. She draws Harry Potter characters in the style of the PowerPuff Girls. OMG. There's even a fan community at [livejournal.com profile] potterpuff_fans, which is where I got this icon. Because Neville & Trevor are kinda my favorites. Jess, the Snapey stuff is FREAKIN' ADORABLE.

::edit:: This post has little Crabbe and Goyle! Too cute!

The professor they talk about in this article, Gary Urton, taught my Inca class last fall. He is so freakin' smart, and khipu are his specialty. "Khipu" are knotted cords used as record-keeping devices by the Incas, and I think they're fascinating because they're basically an ancient writing system. Every other culture developed a flat, 2D writing system, but the Incas used wool, which is the best material they had to work with--they lived in the mountains, they didn't *have* anything flat to write on. I already knew all the stuff in the article because of taking Urton's class. I'm so glad I had the chance to take a class with him--I'm glad his khipu studies are going well.
