shoes = therapy!
May. 16th, 2006 08:29 pmToday was good! I got actual work done at the office, helping my boss proof an upcoming article, and then I made some good revisions on my essay(s) that are due tomorrow. I feel pretty solid about that. Then I went to the NARAL volunteer party, and got to hang out with Kristine and Betsy and Rich and Kat and Kristin, and ate yummy appetizers. And I won a door prize!! One of the really good door prizes, which never happens for me, so I was excited. I get to take a cooking class at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts. I have to sit down and look at the schedule, but I think there were some interesting things that I could sign up for in June. Possibly breads or cakes or tarts. There were some seafood and mexican classes but I think they're in August. And then when I left the volunteer party, I just happened to be walking past Berk's, and somehow three pairs of shoes found their way home with me! I don't know how it happened, I swear. I think I'm in the mindset of "I only have six more weeks of regular employment so I should enjoy it while I can!" which is bad because I *should* be thinking "I only have six more weeks of regular employment so I should save up as much money as I can!" Well, I really really wanted these shoes. I needed really comfy flip flops. In black. And I've been wanting jellies ever since they came back in style and these were both purple and on sale. (Don't ask about the other pair--but OMG I needed them!) But seriously--if anyone even overhears me thinking longingly about shoes you have full permission to smack me. No more shoes!
Honestly, though, I'm really pleased by how together I've been the past few days. I got my whole editing exam done ahead of time, I'm not stressing about my travel writing project, I cooked dinner last night and it was yummy (hard to screw up pasta, but I did steam some zucchini), I've been social, and I haven't spent huge amounts of money. I also have been sane about telling people about the move. Overall: good things.
