better today
Dec. 13th, 2006 03:25 pmI'm feeling better today. I got a really good night's sleep the last two nights in a row (thank you, NyQuil), and today, even though I'm very very snuffly and still coughing and congested, my body actually feels not-sick. In that my body feels like it wants to do yoga, not curl up and die. This is an excellent sign. And my cheekbones and neck and glands don't feel all swollen and sore like they've been feeling. I will probably take the NyQuil again tonight, just for the congestion and coughing and to make sure I sleep well again, and then I'll go to yoga tomorrow night and see how that goes. I still wish I could go to bed and just sleep until I wake up, but who can ever do that?
My work friends Kristina and Jean have said they might be able to go the Rainer Maria show on Friday, and Tariq said he'll go. I hope Kristina and Jean are able to go too, but even if it's just Tariq and I, I'll still be glad to go. It's annoying that I'll have to go home to get my car first and then drive back downtown, but sometimes that's just going to happen. I don't want to have to leave the show early to catch the train (the last train is at 11:50, which doesn't necessarily mean I'd have to leave early, but catching the last train would involve a 20-minute walk through center city at 11:30 at night and then walking through a dead-empty parking lot to my car at quarter to 1 in the morning, and I would rather just go home to get my car).
I just discovered Massive Attack on my ipod. Holy crap how have I not been listening to this for months?
I started a new Guy Gavriel Kay book this morning. I want to stop everything and just sit and devour it. How did I not hunt down all his books years ago? I first read Fionavar when I was in high school, for goodness' sake. I've known about the Guy (hehe, stupid) for over ten years, and I'm just now discovering his other books? Conclusion: sometimes I = clueless.
Today is a much better day than yesterday. Yesterday was pretty much a waste. I was miserable and sick all day, missed the express 5:17 train so I had to take the slow 5:23 and got home late, and then spent the entire evening sitting on the couch watching Law & Order with my mom. I honestly wasn't up for any more than that. Today is much better. I guess days like yesterday do occasionally have to happen to everyone, but I'm glad that my yesterday was immediately followed by a today.
Now that I have more jeans, I can wear jeans to work regularly! And I can wear my previously-favorite jeans now without feeling guilty or worrying that they'll fall apart, because if they do fall apart I have other jeans! Isn't this silly, that something as simple as owning pants can improve my overall outlook on life that much? Anyway, it's been nice wearing jeans to work the past few days and not having to worry about Choosing A Business Casual Outfit while I was sick. Yesterday would have been a lot worse if I'd been wearing a skirt and tights, or, god forbid, heels. I think I might just live in jeans for the rest of the winter!
