yoga # 53.5 / jogwalking week 5
Oct. 6th, 2009 10:38 amLast night I wanted to get in a good solid hourlong yoga practice. We did a lot of walking over the weekend but I never had a chance to do any yoga. Last night, however, things got away from me--I got home at 6, prepped for dinner, talked to my parents (my mom was at the doctor yesterday), and finally got going on yoga at 6:40. F got home around 7:15, so I ended up doing only 30-35 minutes of yoga. It was still a really good practice: my body was really craving it, so I was able to push really hard into the poses and do a lot of the more challenging poses that I don't feel up for in the mornings. My sivasana wasn't great, because I knew that F was home and I was worrying about dinner and what else we needed to get done, but that's why the morning is good for yoga--less to worry about. Overall I was happy with the practice.
This morning, I continued my practice of dragging my sorry carcass out of bed early to go jogging. Week 5! I was out for almost 30 minutes and jogged the whole time. I had made a couple of new only-30-minute playlists, and the one I listened to today was perfect. It opened with a fast-paced song to get me started, kept me going all along, and ended with three songs that I really like to keep me going all the way to the end. Putting "Hey Ya!" second to last was really kind of inspired. With those last three songs, I actually sped into something resembling a run, so that I got home a song and a half early and had to go around the block to finish my time. It felt really good! It was a good jogwalkrun, I really enjoyed it, and now my legs are sore. Awesome!
The only problem with my playlist was that the volume kept mysteriously turning up louder than I wanted. I think the problem is that my breasts wanted louder music: my ipod is a 60GB, so it's huge and heavy, and so I tuck it inside my sports bra--there's plenty of room in there and it doesn't bounce. But somehow my breasts were turning up the volume. This was corrected when I turned the ipod around to be facing out instead of facing in.
For next week's jogwalkrun, I need to remember: sweatpants, and earmuffs.
