supercheesegirl: (me - R & F engagement)
We're back from our honeymoon. It was amazing. We were away for two full weeks, filled with adventure and relaxing, beach time and jungle time, Mayan ruins and mosquitoes. I don't think I'll have time to post a full update here, other than that it was amazing and I want to go live on the beach. But I do need to catch up with yoga posts and book posts. I'll backdate the book posts so as not to overload your f-lists, but if you want to see everything I read, you can just click over to my actual journal.

I am actually not too very sad to be back. It was a wonderful trip, possibly the best trip I've ever taken, with the best traveling companion. We ate terrific food and saw amazing things and hiked, caved, biked, kayaked, snorkeled, ziplined, swam, and engaged in a variety of other action verbs. We also relaxed a lot, and I feel very refreshed. (Which is nice considering how much I need to get done at the office right now.) So I don't feel sad to be back--my regular ol' non-honeymoon life is pretty excellent even if it doesn't take place adjacent to palm trees.

If anything exciting happened while I was away that you think I'd like to know about, please leave me a comment! I hope it was a nice exciting thing.

Yoga # 100
Sunday October 31, mid-afternoon
20 minutes

Our first full day in Belize! After a relaxing morning and a walk to town for lunch, F and I borrowed yoga mats from Kirsten and got in a little yoga practice out on the pier. It felt good after sitting on the plane for so long the previous day. Then it started to rain so we jumped in the ocean.

Yoga # 101
Monday November 1, 9:00-10:45am
105 minutes

On Monday morning we took Kirsten's yoga class. It was a surprisingly long class, and Kirsten is a good teacher. We did a lot of flowing into and out of poses, a lot of reclining leg work, a lot of flat face-down backbends (can't remember the pose name), and I felt very relaxed afterwards. I remember that, while we were in the class, I could see down between the boards of the pier and could see the water moving under us--that actually made me feel a little sick so I didn't look at that again. I could have tried doing a headstand--Kirsten did one--but I was kind of terrified to do one against the railing for fear I'd kick right over the top and fall in the water. Overall it was an awesome class, so cool to do yoga right there on the pier with the ocean breeze in our faces.

Yoga # 102
Tuesday November 9, 11:00-11:50am
50 minutes

Our last day at Black Rock Lodge in the jungle, we borrowed mats from the office and practiced on the palapa platform above the river. The view is amazing and really inspiring for yoga. By this point in the trip I really, really needed some yoga--it had been over a week since the class with Kirsten, and we did a lot of really active stuff in that week. Afterwards I felt sore but refreshed.

Yoga # 103
Tuesday November 16, early morning
30 minutes

This morning I tried to get back into my habit of yoga before work. I thought it also might be nice to chill out a bit and have some calm to start my first day back at the office after the honeymoon. I started out with weights (after our kayaking adventure, I'm devising some arm exercises with the weights to strengthen my rowing/paddling muscles), squats, and four sun salutations, then moved right to the floor for some gentle stretches. Definitely some soreness, considering it had been a week since the previous practice and that week involved kayaking, biking 17 miles, and sitting on a plane and in two airports, but not as bad as I was expecting.
