movies: LotR, Muppets / TV update
May. 6th, 2012 12:24 pmI think I forgot to post about our Lord of the Rings marathon in March. We watched all the extended editions, back to back, and had friends over for an all-day party. F got a projector from the college where he works so we were able to project the movie up on the wall. We had to hang towels and blankets over all the windows so our house looked like a combination meth lab/blanket fort, but it was totally worth it. It was an awesome and oddly exhausting day.
Last night we watched the new Muppet movie. Really fun and enjoyable. I liked the introduction of Walter's character and found him really sympathetic at first (although he got on my nerves a little bit later). I loved all the celebrity cameos - my favorite was probably Senor Chang, but there were so many good ones.
So far this year, still not a lot of movies, but the overall quality of the movies watched remains high!
In TV news, we watched both seasons of Downton Abbey, which was so good and enthralling that I completely forgot we had left Torchwood sitting at a moment when a major character just got shot in the chest. Dang. So we're back to Torchwood a bit, and still watching My So-Called Life. Star Trek TNG is backburnering for now. We're caught up on season 1 of the Cumberbatch Sherlock and I'm dying for more. Also, I started on the UK Being Human while F was out of town last week - I'm three episodes in and really enjoying it.
The current season of Community is the only thing we're watching regularly in real time. It is excellent.
