supercheesegirl: (holiday)
Well, I think the cookie party was a rousing success. Lots of people attended, bringing with them lots of cookies and lots of holiday cheer. Let's see if I can remember: I made the cranberry cookies; [livejournal.com profile] sleepyworm did the traditional peanut blossoms; [livejournal.com profile] nchanter made dairy-free tree-shaped sugar cookies; [livejournal.com profile] pandora brought chocolate haystacks that her mother insisted on making for her because "epileptics can't be near the stove"; [livejournal.com profile] ilikemytie brought chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips AND banana nut muffins; [livejournal.com profile] tisana made yummy toffee cookies; [livejournal.com profile] lydian made butterscotch scotchies; and [livejournal.com profile] allthefishies made my favorite yummy pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I think that's everyone from el jay who was in attendance with baked goods. [livejournal.com profile] darxus cracked me up by bringing milk, because... cookies! Totally brilliant. Other folks in attendance included Tom, Tadd, Susanna, Aimee, Maddie, her Tom, EE, and Benjie, and [livejournal.com profile] painkiller drifting in and out. In addition to cookies I provided chips and soda and the crabbie things (which always do go over well, don't they?) and hot apple cider with butterscotch schnapps to put in it (which Darxus highly enjoyed, thus cracking me up again). And Maddie's Tom, being fairly New, had never seen Soccer Practice, which gave us an excellent excuse to watch it. And everyone liked my tree even if we did have to unplug the star so it wouldn't give Pandora a seizure, and everyone ate a lot and felt very full and sick to their stomachs but in a good full way not in an "I consumed poisonous milk!" way. The last guests trickled out around 11:00pm, and then Dann said, "Yay! My favorite part of a party!" and practically ran to do the dishes, which made me love him pretty intensely, as there were a lot of dishes. Jorn and I put all our cookie booty in plastic bags and stashed it under the christmas tree. The roomies and I will have plenty of cookies to eat for the next two weeks. And an unplanned-but-still-wonderful part of this cookie party is that it happened during Menstruation Week! So now there's all this chocolate in my house and I didn't even have to buy it. How cool is that?

Yes, I'm pretty pleased with the state of affairs right now. Even if I didn't manage to send out the holiday packages this morning. I'll get them ready to go tonight, and I'll hit the post office first thing tomorrow morning. I'll send Lani's box via the most expensive priority-to-Germany airmail I can afford to make sure she gets it in time.
