does everybody out there know the difference between you're and your?

you're is a contraction. it means, "you are."

your is a possessive. it should be used as an adjective to refer to objects that belong to you, ie, "your cat", "your booty", etc.

i only bring this up because i see very intelligent people confusing the two all the time, and i don't know if they actually don't know the difference or if they're just being lazy. possibly they're just bad typists.

i mean, in your journal is one thing, because even though other people see it, it's just for you. but i see this all the time in the newspaper, on billboards, and i'm like, HELLO? WDP?
