I just heard the news that a friend of mine from college just passed away. Complications from pneumonia. I hadn't really been in touch with him for a long time, and I found out that he'd been living in Boston for the past year and I never knew. It would have been cool to see him again. He was a really good guy. Here's the obituary (apparently it'll only be posted there for a few more days, though).
It's such a shock to hear about a friend dying suddenly, you know? Most of the people I know who have died have either been old or were sick for a long time. A girl I knew in college died in a car accident over Easter break, but even then we had a memorial service and met her family and... I was able to participate in group mourning, I guess. John's services happened on Wednesday and in New Jersey, so I couldn'tve been there.
