so today was a wonderful day. it cost me around $100, but it was worth it and i am so so happy.

i got jeans. i got brown shoes.

all is right with the world.

here's how it came about: i got my ass out of bed at 7:20am this morning, because arturo needed an oil change, and i wanted to get to the mechanic early so i wouldn't have to wait. i was there by 8:15, out by 9am. then i began my day of shopping at kohl's. i have this kohl's gift card, see, and i've been wanting to spend it, and all i had bought with it thus far was a pair of socks. so i had $22 left, and they were having good sales, so i checked it out. i refuse to try on jeans there anymore, but i found a cute green long sleeve top, a pair of cute socks, and a pair of flip flops for next year, and i only spent $13. woo. next stop, ross dress-for-less, but i was there not too long ago, and i was just checking to see if they had what i wanted for my halloween costume. they didn't. on to carolina thrift. i found the perfect dress there for my halloween costume, but it was a size six. i'm twice that size! no luck there.

and then i went to the mall. i shopped and i shopped. i went in many stores and tried on many things. i took off my shoes and put them back on again like 800 times. and then i went into a store called Wild Pair, which i had never gone into before because it looks like one of those shoe stores that's going to be really expensive. but it wasn't, they were having some sales, and i tried on a supercute pair of brown shoes. the store didn't have half sizes, so i had to try an 8 instead of an 8.5, and i was so worried they'd be too small, but they were perfect. i tromped around the store in them like four times, and then looked in the mirror, and then sat down and looked at the shoes, and then tromped around the store again, and the salesgirl must've thought i was crazy, but i needed to know if they'd be comfortable. and they were. and i bought them.

here's a link to my new shoes--they're on the right, the style called Nigal. aren't they cute? and clunky, and brown, and with a closed toe, and an ankle strap? woohoo! total cost of shoes + tax = $31.94.

i was considering not tempting the gods after the miraculous finding of shoes, but i decided to look for jeans anyway. i went to teh Gap, where i never go, but lauren had sent me a pair of Gap jeans that she apparently got a great deal on at the outlets, but they didn't quite fit, and i wanted to try to exchange them. and i found a pair of jeans (the size 12 regular length flares) that fit pretty well--good length, good flare, not too tight in the thigh, covered my whole ass with no waistband flappage in the back (which happens all the time for some reason), but the front was a bit big (because people with asses the size of mine usually have tummies as well, i guess). so i tried to exchange the outlet jeans for the new jeans, but they wouldn't let me--apparently you have to return outlet jeans to the outlet. now i have to truck those phuckers back to PA. and i was SO not spending $50 on Gap jeans just because. conclusion: Gap sucks.

anyway. then i decide to go to one last store--LernerNewYork. and they are having a rockin' sale. so i grab size 10s and 12s in regular and tall of every style they've got, and it turns out that according to Lerner, my size is a 10 tall low-rise flare. they fit so nice. just a little bit stretchy, so the tightness across the thighs is acceptable. and flat in the front! no bagginess where a tummy is expected! and just a little roomy in the waistband in the back (but not near so bad as other jeans i've tried on--the flappy waistband thing is one of my main pant gripes--what do hispanic girls do? they've got way bubblier asses than mine). and when i applied for a Lerner charge, i got an extra 15% off my order, and supposedly they'll send me coupons and stuff. total cost of jeans + tax = $18.11.

rox's day out total spending:
oil change this morning: $24.97
things from Kohl's: $13.31
brown shoes from Wild Pair: $31.94
LernerNewYork jeans: $18.11
groceries: $30.61
lunch from Cinnabon: $4.45 (it was horrible, but i couldn't resist--they have this new caramel pecanbon that looked sooooo good...)

total spending: $123.39
(but remember, the Kohl's stuff was on a gift card!)

things i still have to get: halloween costume, moth balls, iced tea mix, stamps!!, gas in the car, car wash, kari's birthday present

yeah, big spender.
