I read the whole book last night, I couldn't stop. It was excellent, I really liked the whole series. My grump with Garth Nix, though, is that I think he ends the story a little too soon. Both Sabriel and Abhorsen ended right immediately after the huge climactic battle--people stand up and brush themselves off and check to see who's dead and smile at who's still alive, and that's the end. I would feel more satisfied if there were one or two more scenes--the triumphant return to the city, perhaps, or the wedding, or the happy family reunion. Nix gives a strong sense that everything's going to be okay, but I'd like to see a little more of what happens next. For example, Guy Gavriel Kay is excellent at that. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the Abhorsen trilogy.

However, I had really odd dreams and spent a lot of time tossing and turning last night, quite possibly because I spent the whole evening reading about necromancers. I think I need to be done with fiction for a little while--YA fantasy in particular--and might refocus on poetry and nonfiction for a bit.

You get a bit of follow-up if you read the novella in Across the Wall. I'd lend it to you if you weren't in PA. :)
