At Scrabble today, we split into two games of four and three players each. I played with Lou, Tariq, and Christine. I was glad Christine was in our game, she's really fun. I went first. Lou was all bitter through the whole game--every time I put down a word he'd be all "Oh no" and "Here it comes". I was just lucky last week! Anyway, he got his revenge this week.
My words:
18 points - VOW
26 points - SIZE
44 points - HATS/EH/RA (Looking in the dictionary after the game, I discovered that RA is not a word--I guess it's a proper noun so it doesn't count--but no one challenged it, and I was not going to look in the dictionary before my turn!)
15 points - ONUS/WOW
18 points - DEAD/FA/AD
14 points - WOWING
On Lou's next turn, he placed (C)RAC(K)LES, an eight-letter word, on the triple word score, for a total of 74 points. He was really excited.
24 points - TREAT/TO
Minus two to Lou who went out first, and I ended the game with a 157. Christine finished with 87, Tariq with 103, and Lou ended with a 201 and was so happy to win. I'm really glad he got an 8-letter word and kicked my ass--maybe now he'll climb off the bitter bus and not whine so much! But I do love playing with Lou, he's really funny when he's being bitter. Most of the time.
The other game was Jean, Kristina, and Karen. Their game was notable because halfway through Jean had all consonants and Kristina had all vowels. They skipped a turn to trade letters: Jean picked three letters from Kristina's rack without looking, and Kristina did the same, and they were quite happy with the results.
