Looking for yoga music. Suggestions?

Music I already enjoy doing yoga to:
- Anything by Loreena McKennitt is good
- Mus
- Nightmares on Wax

Music I might try doing yoga to:
- The Be Good Tanyas
- Gregorian chant (I might do that today, actually) (::edit:: yeah, a little too sleepy)
- Enigma
- Okkervil River
- Sigur Ros

I tried some Irish music on Monday (Danu was the specific band), but it was just a little too peppy for the most part. The thing about good yoga music is that it has to be beautiful and relaxing and not too peppy, but it can't be too slow or sleepy either because then I'll just pass out. Nick Cave's "The Boatman's Call" is a bit too sleepy.

F, what was the name of that Moby album we were listening to over Labor Day?

Have you checked out some instrumental jazz music? Like Keith Jarrett's concerts? I like Koln concert the best.

Songs: Ohia (Ghost Tropic & Lioness) and Iron & Wine. Also, maybe Alison Krauss - Forget About It.

Iron & Wine might be good, yeah. I've thought about Songs Ohia--Axxess & Ace is my favorite album, but I should listen to the other ones too.

Depends, I think. Some classical might be a bit much--think 1612 overture--or not enough. Yo Yo Ma might bear some looking into, though, for sure.

Hmm. I'm not usually much into jazz, but I will check out Keith Jarrett. Thanks!

Stellamara is lovely ethereal world music--if you like Loreena, you might like her. In the same vein, Azam Ali, or her several bands--Vas and Niyaz--might be good, too. I do have a lot of those, I could make you a mix, or something.

Or you could just get them from emusic, where I get mine.

Aine Minogue is ethereal Celtic stuff, some of which may be appropriate...also Solace (the world fusion group, not the 80s metal group) has some stuff that might work well for yoga (it really varies--some is techno trancey stuff, some is drums, some is calmer).

moby had an ambient album called, you guessed it, "ambient." brian eno might be good, too. there's another icelandic band called mum that's amazing. and maybe godspeed you black emperor and a silver mt. zion.

The Moby we listened to was Hotel (the double disc). Want me to send a copy your way?

A few other thoughts:
-Air
-Frou Frou
-Mazzy Star (too slow perhaps though)
-Jack Johnson
-Yo-Yo Ma

I would recommend anything by Lisa Gerrard (the woman who sang on the Gladiator soundtrack) or by her early band "Dead Can Dance."

From my current Winamp playlist at work...

Tuu - "All Our Ancestors" (very ambient & dreamy; they've got another one called "One Thousand Years" that isn't as good imho)

Zero One - "Zero One" (may be a bit heavy on the beats, but good musics)

Jean-Michel Jarre - "Oxygene" (ambient electronic from waaaaaay back!)

Gino D'Auri - "Flamenco Mystico" (semi-traditional flamenco guitar)

Autechre - "Draft 7.30" (early clickhop ... on second thought, probably too squirky and syncopaclicktated for yoga)

Portishead - "Dummy" (obvi)

And then I second some of the things above, Dead Can Dance, Mazzy Star, Godspeed et al. Maybe some Massive Attack?
