This was pretty good. A collection of short stories all loosely based around the history of a house on the Cape and the generations of people who lived there. Some of the stories were more compelling than others. I'd actually read one of these before, in Five Points, and thought it was good. I think I would have liked a slightly stronger link between stories in the house itself. We see little things like the applewood floors in the kitchen come back later, and particularly we see the ghost of the blackbird, but more of that to link these together would have been nice. There were a few stories where I was wondering when we'd get to the house, and then I got to the end and realized the whole story had taken place in the house and I hadn't really noticed. Anyway, if you like Alice Hoffman, it's worth a read.
