Awesome news: F and I are finalists in Jenn Link's Geek Love Free Wedding Photography Contest!

It looks like we're up against some pretty serious geeks. If the judges are going on geekdom alone, I don't know that we'll win. However, we are extremely pretty, and my essay is the best, and we're the only ones who aren't WoW or video game geeks, so I think we stand out. Hey, a 1 in 4 chance of free wedding photography is pretty awesome!

In other news, Mom and I went dress shopping again this weekend. No final decisions made, but I think we're closer to figuring out what I want. Which doesn't seem to be what I thought I wanted, but I guess that's to be expected.

Woot - congratulations on the final-dom!! You are totally the cutest in the competition and perhaps ever. :-)

Also, what's going on with Marty and the dresses? Anything with which I can be of service?

The Marty dresses were a no-go and got shipped back this morning. The Daphne, the one I loved the most in pictures, was almost awesome but fell short but fitting really oddly, and I know that some of it was probably because it was a floor model dress, but some of it was clearly part of the construction. We took photos so I would remember. The Emma is still perhaps a possibility. The Emma dress they sent was definitely the floor model, and Marty had even said it was "a little tired", which seemed to translate to "the bodice is totally stretched out". So we photographed that as well, just in case.

Right now I'm actually leaning towards something satin and 40s glamorous--the dress we liked at David's is the current winner. I sent you the photo of that one, right? I'm going to try to get Lauren to meet me at David's in a week or two to get another opinion on it.

I'm still torn, though. Part of me wants the satin and glamour. Part of me wants just a pretty sundress for my outdoorsy wedding. But I don't think the satin is incompatible with the outdoors, and I think the satin would go pretty well with the sort of vintagey suit that F is considering. F wants to wear a hat, too. We would look pretty dapper together.

So that's where we're at right now.

Oh no! I'm so bummed for you. I know those Marty dresses were your 'holy grail'.

Remember the place we went to in Lansdale? That no-pressure saleslady who took my bad attitude in stride? Maybe that would be a good stop for you. I bet if you went in with a 40's glam idea, she could totally run with it. Just another thought for you.

Those j-crew links I sent also listed trunk shows where you could try them on.

You are gorgeous. You two will be, without a doubt, the most awesome vintage wedding ever.

Also, I have to tell you that it tickled me that you listed the jewelry in the wedding photo contest entry. It means a whole lot to me that you trust me to work with such special stuff. <3

I looked up the place in Lansdale a few weeks ago, thinking that it would be an awesome place to go. Sadly, it closed. Another bridal store opened up in the same place, but not run by Shelley. So that's a sadness.

Of course I mentioned the jewelry in the contest essay! I'm happier than I can say that I get to wear Gammy's pieces, and that you're making them look so beautiful for me. It really means a lot.

IMO, you can wear satin outdoors. I say this having not seen any of the photos. But I think you can do it. People do anything they want when it comes to wedding dresses! So channel your inner Zelda Fitzgerald and wear the glamourous satin, girlfriend!

My friend Lauren had some other ideas about non-bridal-monster places we can go to look for dresses. I definitely want to try the satin one from David's again, but I also want to try some new places too!
