hi. so we're at amy & alyssa's house, because they kindly gave us their spare key so we could come over and use their phone. and these little ibooks are awfully fun to type on, girls. anyway, i called the two jobby job people i needed to call, but they weren't there so i left two messages. then i tried to call earthlink to cancel my services (hooray for the cable modem at our new place) but i was stuck on hold for almost 20 minutes before i gave up. i'm thinking that if you go through the appropriate options--ie, if you want to cancel your service press 1--you'll get stuck in a neverending loop because they don't want you to cancel your service. so when i call back again in a bit, i'm going to try having a billing question instead. anyway, jorn and i made an appointment with a kelly services office near downtown crossing, and we called another temp agency that does walk-ins only so we might go do that tomorrow. now jorn is on the phone with the budget truck claims department. he was holding for a long time, but now they just picked up. hopefully we'll get some money back for the water damage and the crappy windshield wiper thing. oh, the other thing we did this morning was set up bank accounts. yeah for sovereign bank and their totally free checking system. hooray also for their willingness to continue callling me a student even when i told them i'm not anymore. okay, going to help jorn with the claims people now-- teh--

water damage?! oh no! after carefully stacking everything so it wouldn't get gravity damage? shite!

what got damaged? important stuff? here's hoping it ain't.

and meanwhile good luck with the tempy temp, jobby job stuff, and the piano and all that weirdness. and good luck getting rid of earthlink. and i can't wait until you get your own computer set back up so you can write long, detailed posts when you get bored.

nothing's badly hurt--some paperbacks of jorn's (remember that one huge air conditioner box that was falling apart?) and some cds got wet, but i don't think the liner notes were damaged at all. the couch and cushions got a little wet, and so did one of the mattresses, and jorn's computer--hopefully the case protected it enough. we'll have to see about that. mostly there was very little damage (unless the computer's messed up) and we're just bitching about it because it shouldn'tve happened.

piano is fucking GONE! we'll post more about that later (hey, my new roomie dann has been making some fun posts about that damn piano, too), but the piano is gone, and we just spent the whole afternoon moving shit around. in an hour or so, we may actually have a bed put together in a bedroom. yeah. and i had a good conversation with someone about the possibility of a job interview today, so we'll see if they call again--who cares if it's a job with the Christian Science Monitor? a job is a job, yo. and tomorrow we're hitting a temp agency anyway. how's CASA doing?

CASA's cruising along just fine, if a little less happy without your smiling mug around. mike just doesn't have your personality. and i don't think hugging him is an option.

i hope jorn's computer's okay. and all that other stuff, too. it sucks when that kind of thing happens. and the rental companies aren't exactly known for the best upkeep in the world. teh.

i added dann to my friends list, in case he wonders who that weirdo is. he mentioned "cable modems in every room." does the provider charge per-computer as down here ($10/mo for each additional computer)? if so, it would save you all a lot of money to invest in a router ($75-ish) and set up a local network. that puts everyone on one cable modem, looks like one computer to the ISP, and you'll only have bandwidth issues if several people are trying to download music at one time. or if someone there needs mega-bandwidth or something.

christian science monitor? erg! you've got a stronger stomach than i do!

haha on the cable modems--we've already got a router (secretly, of course, because the comcast people would get pissy if they knew) and as soon as we get some network cords or something, we'll all be networked. my other roommate dylan works in IT, so he knows his shizznit. :)

aww, give mike a hug. :) oh, and tell nancy she'll probably be getting some reference calls about me soon, so i hope she's got her Nice Things to Say list all ready. :)
