i'm feeling better about this temp job now, after talking to my supervisor, shelley, a bit about my responsibilities and how things work here and stuff. i was getting a bit overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of this project (again, had i started here three weeks ago, i would've been fine with the vastness, but this is the deadline week) and the many different database systems used to access information (all of the databases somehow being named Something Directories). but we chatted for a while, and she was really nice, and told me a little about how the different things work and what our priorities are right now and such. another problem has been how busy she is--i've been feeling bad about asking questions and bothering her, and also feeling bad that i'm not picking things up faster so i could be more helpful. but that's better now. she did say i've been doing a good job with the layout, so that made me happy--the best part of the job yet has been the layouts, figuring out how to do different things has been fun. so that's good. and she said she's thinking our final-final deadline will be around october 10, so i should be gainfully employed here at least until then, maybe afterwards, i don't know. i'm still going to be looking for other work (there's like five new jobs posted on the bookbuilders website!) but at least i've got a position doing something. oh, and shelley said it's fine with her if i bring music tomorrow. yehy.
and i heard some news from the ladies at the Otis House--carolyn emailed me to let me know that her reference checks and such were taking a bit longer than she thought, so she probably won't be making the final decision until monday. so i feel a *lot* better about that now. i of course immediately wrote her back to let her know how much i appreciated her getting back to me and taking the time to interview me last week etc etc. hopefully i am still in the running for that job, but i doubt she would've contacted me at all today if i wasn't.
heading home to get stuff done!
