I will try to keep up with my morning fitness program to the best of my ability.
I did an excellent job of keeping fit in 2010. All year long, I got up early to work out 3-4 mornings per week. Consistently. Do you know how this blows my mind? I went jogging 40 times! 40 out of 52 weeks means I went jogging almost 80% of the time. I also kept up with dance classes January-April in the midst of wedding planning. I'm really proud of what I accomplished last year, and also of my hot womanly arm muscles.
I will work to step up my yoga practice.
I had 115 yoga practices, a total of 3880 minutes, almost 65 hours. I made it to the studio for practice more often than in 2009 (which wasn't hard considering I went almost never in 2009), and I practiced 20 more times than I did in 2009. Overall I'm happy with my accomplishments here.
I also read nine issues of Yoga Journal, the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, a book by BKS Iyengar, and a bunch of books on Buddhism.
I will continue giving to charity every month.
January: Doctors Without Borders
February: Congenital Heart Information Network, American Cancer Society
March: NARAL
April: John J. Tyler Arboretum
May: The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and AIDS Walk
June: Free Library of Philadelphia, United Way, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation
July: break
August: "The Dude Hates Cancer! Charity Bowling Event"
September: Beyond the 11th, The Engage Network
October: Susan G. Komen for the Cure Knoxville
November/December: The Smile Train, The National Trust for Historic Preservation
Overall, I donated around $700 to charity this year, and I'm pretty sure that for most of those, I was able to fill out the matching gift form so that my company would match the donation. That means I was responsible for $1400 of charitable donations. I still love doing this.
The only downside to giving to a different charity every month is that now every one of them thinks I should give to them every month, and they send me lots of mail to this effect, and sell my information to other charities so they can pester me too. And the longer I go without giving to them (like for example the ones I gave to in 2009), the more frantic and wasteful their mailings. I have no need for a map of the world, notecards with photos of polar bears, a membership card, a nickel, a second map of the world, or any of the other crap they have been sending me. I've taken to returning their postage paid envelopes with a letter enclosed telling them not to send me this crap anymore. About the only thing I would like a charity to send me right now would be some address labels in my new name. None of them have yet figured out my new name and they keep sending me address labels in my old name, which is not helpful. The first one who figures it out will get a donation for sure.
I will try to spend more time outdoors.
We did a pretty good job of this, culminating in our honeymoon, which was a great outdoor adventure!
I will try to stay calm while planning the wedding.
Mischief managed, mostly.

For 2011, I think I'm going to pass on resolutions. As previously mentioned, I'm not going to track my yoga anymore, since the goal of that was to make it an almost-daily part of my life, which I've mostly done, and if I do my teacher training this year, I'll be doing so much yoga that if I post every single session you'll all want to strangle me with my own leg. I am going to continue keeping track of jogs, since I'm still excited that I can say "I went jogging 40 times last year!" But I think jogging tracking will be more like book tracking at this point. Similarly the charitable donations.
I have a lot of long-term goals, but not really anything I want to resolve to do. Resolutions are supposed to be about big changes, not about maintaining what you've got, and I'm really in a "maintain" sort of place. I want to keep giving to charity every month; I want to maintain my current level of physical fitness and improve on it where possible; I want to figure out what I'm going to do about yoga teacher training; I want to make progress with my writing goals as possible in balance with teacher training. I want to continue having an amazing relationship with my amazing husband, and together we want to keep saving for a house and a family. So this year is going to be about progress towards goals, not keeping resolutions. We'll see where that goes.
