In continuing ST:TNG news, the bug parasites in the second to last episode of season 1 were really silly. Too easily defeated just all the way around. Killing the mother bug just killed all of them? So what happened to the bug embedded in your neck when it died? Just the thought grosses me out. Also, hello gratuitous dude-splosion. If he had a mother bug that large in his intestines, I don't understand how he was even walking around. Overall I think that if they'd written this plotline three years later they would have made it at least a two-parter and gone into more depth and less 'splosion.
In summary, Buffy totally did better at beating bug parasites than Picard. :)
