F read this chapbook recently and was about to put it in the mail to his best friend; he thought he'd entered a chapbook contest and gotten this book for free. In actuality, I was the one who entered the chapbook contest, and I did not get the book for free but paid actual money for it (on top of what I paid to enter the contest); at AWP in February I had stopped by the press's booth to schmooze and got roped into buying it because it sounded so hilarious. Glad I snagged it from the pile before he shipped it somewhere--I feel pretty averse to spending money on something and then not getting to read it before it leaves my house.
Anyway, this chapbook is the story in poems of Jude Law and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, lovers, sensei and protege, taking a road trip across the American West. Seriously. It's pretty awesome. Not based in actual fact, of course, but fun to imagine. A fast read and I liked it very much.
