A few weeks back my mom and I hit the ballet for the first time in a while. Their sales office had called her up and asked why she didn't subscribe anymore, and she told them about the poor service we'd had on our subscription in the past and how the opera had more interesting shows and better service. They offered her a good deal: to pick two or three of this season's ballets to attend rather than buying the full package. So we gave it a try and had a really good time!
This ballet was a combination of three shorter pieces:
"The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude", choreographed by William Forsythe, music by Schubert: I don't remember too much about this one, actually. I think we liked it quite a bit.
"11:11", choreographed by Matthew Neenan: This was a lot of fun. Neenan is inspired by Rufus Wainright's music, and the resulting dances are just really lovely.
"Keep", choreographed by Matthew Neenan: We were really glad to have seen this one, since it was principal dancer Riolama Lorenzo's final performance with the PA Ballet. It was truly beautiful, and she was just fantastic. The costumes in this one were really nice as well.
Overall it was great to get back to the ballet! Another plus is that the ballet is always shorter than the opera, so we never have to rush to catch our train home.
