Well, there goes my 2012 movie record. On Monday F and I watched Troll Hunter, a 2010 Norwegian film shot in a documentary format (much like Blair Witch) in which trolls are real and are living in unpopulated regions of Norway. It's available via Netflix streaming. Some of the effects were pretty cool, but due to the format it was pretty slow-moving at times, and also kind of mindless. It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't a particularly good movie either.

Andy got the Troll Hunter DVD for Xmas. His family is Norwegian (& Swedish, & Finnish) so trolls are... a thing. They all love it. I don't want to watch it; I don't like scary movies.

If you want a truly excellent Scandinavian movie, you MUST watch Rare Exports. It is definitely a bit scary, but SO. AMAZING. We saw it in a theatre and loved it!

Basically: Santa Claus is real & he's coming to punish all the children. He's NOT nice.

I don't watch scary movies either. This one had a few scary-ish moments, particularly before the first big troll-reveal, but overall it wasn't all that scary. I fell asleep for a while, even. (Granted, I'm pregnant, but still.) It's nowhere near the level of scary in Doctor Who. The weeping angels would have these trolls cowering in fear. So I think you'd be fine to watch it.
