bad news: i haven't worked out in ages and i'm not as flexible or strong as i was even three months ago, and i've lost a lot of muscle.

good news: my sexy boots are a lot easier to zip up and more comfortable now that i've lost those pesky calf muscles that were making them too tight.

and jorn got me these two new ben folds cds--i don't even know where he found them or how he knew ben was coming out with new stuff--but i'm psyched because he surprised me and they're really good. a lot of Rocking the Suburbs was kind of flippant and cynical--it's a good cd with a few great songs, but not one of my favorites. but these two new things (would you call them EPs? they're not singles) are good, with some really beautiful songs, AND a cure cover. and jorn said ben's going to be putting out another one soon. but you can tell ben's getting older--he's dealing with the same topics (for example, fat americans who sit on their asses) in totally different ways now ("uncle walter" on the BFF self-titled vs. "all you can eat" on Sunny 16). less goofy frat guy, more political? i don't know. it's good he's evolving. i like Sunny 16 better than Rocking the Suburbs already, i think. it was a good album and a good single to start off his solo thing, but i'm glad he's moving away from some of that stuff.

Have you heard Mess By Ben Folds Five?
I LOVE it.
It's very pretty and sad, very different from most of his otehr stuff.
I saw Ben Folds and a Piano last year, and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to.

Mess is a great song. the Reinhold Messner cd is probably my favorite of everything BFF did--overall quieter and more beautiful without being less intense. i highly recommend it. i have almost everything ben's done, both with the Five and without, although i definitely prefer his stuff with the band over his solo work. i saw BFF twice, and both shows were absolutely amazing; i saw ben solo once, two years ago on his Rocking the Suburbs tour, and while good, he just wasn't as spectacular as when he was with robert and darren. also, he was touring with Snuzz, who was just ridiculous. i wanted to catch the ben/tori tour this summer but i was stuck in NC when my friend keith offered me a ticket to the philly show--grr!

yeah, those are EP's. smaller than an album, but not a single, because a single is built around the one song. EP's are treated like albums; you take them as a whole. I'm glad you're liking them!
