A few nights ago we watched the documentary Being Elmo. It was a lot of fun to see the life of this puppeteer, how passionate he was about puppets at such a young age and how he was able to build his career. It was also fascinating to see what he had to give up in order to bring Elmo to the world.

Last night we watched Rocky. F was floored that, as a Philly native, I'd never seen it, but come on, it came out before I was born and it's about punching. I'm sure that I've seen later Rocky movies, but it never occurred to me really to go back and watch the first one. Well, now I have, and it was awesome. I had to cheer at the training montage, and when he finally made it up the art museum steps! Really glad I've seen it, and Rocky II is now added to the queue. If this baby keeps hanging out in there, we could quite possibly see the entire series this week.

Rocky was unusual when it came out. Small film, unknown lead actor, whole thing about boxing . . . no one wanted to see it at first. Then word of mouth started to build. It was a total underdog story all the way. Who can resist that?
