I loved Rubin's previous book The Happiness Project, so I was ready to love this. But it just... wasn't as good. It felt a lot like Rubin was trying to write the same book over again; a lot of her resolutions were the same or similar. The project to be happier at home just wasn't different enough from the original happiness project, which was also, in essence, a project about being happier at home, since Rubin wasn't interested in making radical changes to her life. There were some good takeaways here, but so much of it was repeated from the earlier book. It's possible that the similarities were extra-strong to me because I just reread The Happiness Project a few weeks ago, but still. I think that if Rubin wanted to write another book on happiness, she might have considered a different approach. I would recommend Happier at Home for those who enjoyed The Happiness Project when it first came out. If you're new to Rubin and the concept of a happiness project, though, you'd be better served just to read The Happiness Project instead.
