Mull spent the first two books of the trilogy building a strong story, and the ending didn't disappoint. He wrapped it all up beautifully. I saw Rachel's rescue of the torivors coming, and I found it a tiny bit frustrating that orantium is apparently the answer to everything - but Jason's outsmarting the Maumet was great, and I didn't see Mt. Allowat coming AT ALL. I was also completely surprised by Groddic's identity. And yeah, as the characters who traveled from evil to redemption, both Drake and Ferrin had to die, but the endings for each of them were well done. I had a soft spot for Ferrin and I'm glad his statue at the end was holding his head. And the last chapter made me just as teary as the epilogue to Lord of the Rings. Overall, I loved this series, five stars, great world-building, and I want a prophecy from the Darian the Seer's secret hideout.
