Read this in actual paperback (my mom got some Magic Tree House books from the used bookstore for my daughter). It has a unicorn on the cover. This book started out super-slow - I'm sorry but 1930s New York City isn't even that interesting to me, let alone a three year old, and I had to skip some chunks that were all wandering around in the park and blah blah Great Depression - but thank god, they eventually found a unicorn and fought some bad magicians to save it. Thumbs up for where they ended up, but this one needed some editing.
In other news, I've now read Eve of the Emperor Penguin in paperback as well. It remains her favorite.
