wow, my journal's a busy place. thanks, cheese folks.

and now, reading the post i made earlier today and some of your journals, i feel like maybe i overreacted a little. you really are very silly people. :)

so anyway. i was going to finish talking about how awesome my trip to new orleans was, but then i got distracted by all this cheese. so i don't know if i'm in the mood for that anymore. i'll try to sum it up in a few words: (1) new orleans is an awesome city. (2) don't stay at the india house unless you're stoned, on spring break, or a foreign traveler with nowhere else to go. (3) i love free stuff. (4) be wary when your mom tells you to drink hurricanes in the french quarter - they're good, but you really only need ONE. (5) i love denise duhamel (i loved her poetry before, but now i love her too).

yeah, that sums it up pretty well.

i got a package in the mail from my mom today. she sent me a shitload of easter stuff, like kitchen towels and an oven mitt and an inflatable bunny. my mom rocks.

and i worked on my writing for over an hour tonight total - reading some of my new books, then freewriting for a while, mostly writing. (here's the thing, in case you didn't know - i'm in grad school to write poetry. and i never spend enough time on my work.) so coming up in a few weeks, we have some visiting writers coming to campus who are doing workshops and conferences with us lucky students. and, so the visiting writer will have enough time to read and comment on our work, we have to get it in to the office NOW. Tony Hoagland is coming first, during easter week, and i got my poem in for his workshop already (even though the title and the ending suck, the poem itself will be okay, i think). Ellen Bryant Voigt is visiting after that, and poems for her are due friday. so that's what i'm trying to get done now - a decent draft for the workshop, and a few decent revisions to take to a conference. because i don't want to take crap work to Ellen Bryant Voigt and waste her time.

and i have to give a presentation on the song poetry of medieval troubadours on tuesday. i haven't started researching it yet. any book suggestions?
