so what happened this weekend? i've been accepted by the [livejournal.com profile] nonuglygamers community, which was pretty exciting. yeah.

remember how friday night i was so psyched to go see the fast runner over at the harvard film archive? i tried to go buy a ticket on thursday nigt but no one was there when i got there at 5:40 (they're supposed to be open till 6:00). so i figured i would get my ticket on friday before the show. so i hung out in harvard square, in the miserable slush and rain, for an hour and a half after work before going over to the film archive at 6:30, which was when the box office was set to open. but they were sold out when i got there. i was so upset. when i got home i hung out with jorn a few hours and watched him play banjo kazooie. he just started it, but as of last night he's already in click clock wood, and he's got every puzzle piece and note so far. he's so good. :)

i love pepsi in the morning.

saturday i got up fairly early to go to work at the Otis House. i stopped at the bank on the way over there to deposit my most recent Otis House checks. had a good day, mostly, except for the last part--christy and i are both pretty new there, and neither of us had been responsible for closing the house before. we'd both assisted with closing, though, so we figured that between the two of us we'd be able to figure everything out and get things done properly. so we exit the house and alarm it and all, and then we're in the parking lot. there are two exits from the parking lot: the driveway gate and the walkway gate. so we unlock the walkway gate and exit, but we can't get the lock to close again after we're out. so i say, okay, i'll go back in, see if i can get the lock closed from the inside, and if i can you can open the driveway gate and let me out that way. i get the lock closed, and head over to the driveway gate. which we cannot get unlocked however much we fiddle with it. we decide to try the walkway gate again, but can't get *that* unlocked now. at this point i realize that the fence is rather low at one point and i could just hop on over. the fence, however, which is iron and has decorative spikes on its top, disagreed with me. now i have a very, very large bruise on my thigh. it's pretty impressive.

so after that i limped my way out to harvard to meet up with dann and jorn and see the sci fi camp-o-rama at the astrophysics observatory. Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Robot Monster. it was awesome, although the truly horrific badness of The Robot Monster was tempered with sadness for me, because i kept thinking about how the poor director mortgaged his house to make this movie and then it was horrible and there were lawsuits and he killed himself. he loved this movie so much and bankrupted himself to make it, and things went so wrong for him. but the movie *is* laughably terrible. i mean, jorn's going to be the robot monster for halloween, now, i think--gorilla suit with a fishbowl on his head, and he'll carry around a big bubble machine and some tv antenna to fiddle with.

Plan 9 from Outer Space was sort of a cross between brilliant and pathetic. closer to pathetic, obviously, but the script had some glorious moments in it. after seeing that i was so glad i had attended the show. and then we went home and ordered pizza, and jorn played more banjo kazooie, and it was good.

i finally got my w2 from blandwood. they had sent it to my old address, even though i had *given* them the new one when i moved. WDP, blandwood? well, at least i have it now and can try to do my taxes. i'll post my total earnings for last year when i add it up, that should be good for a laugh.

sunday i slept in, and then jorn played more banjo, and then we watched the end of kindergarten cop just because it was on. i eventually got dressed and went downtown for shopping, which was interesting because no trains were going into the downtown crossing T-stop because of some sort of police action. i got off at park street and walked to filene's and did my shopping just fine. then i went to borders and used my two leftover gift cards, plus they were doing a thing where students got 20% off. i got two books and only paid three bucks, and i was all psyched.

we meant to go to target last night, but the car wouldn't start and i couldn't figure out how to use the charger thing my dad had gotten me, so i had to call AAA. again. but the tow guy came out and showed me how to use the charger, and i let the car sit and run for 40 minutes (while i went in the house--i was parked in, so it's not like anyone could steal the car). and now it's much better. hopefully today after work jorn and i are going to take the car to a mechanic for an oil change and a new battery, which should help with the not-starting thing. and i'll get gas, and maybe we'll get to target tonight instead. i'll be glad when i know the car's in good shape to drive this weekend, since i'm heading down to PA for missi's mom's wedding. and i still don't know what i'm going to wear to that.

one of the books i got at borders was Kushiel's Dart, on the recommendation of emily and heather. and i'm liking it, a lot. i am not quite 300 pages in yet, and i already know i'm going to need the rest of the trilogy. yay. thanks, girls.

and i'm surprisingly awake now, considering how late i was up reading last night. time for actual work now.
