i finished Kushiel's Chosen last night. it was good stuff. i like how it didn't end with a big cliffhanger, the way lots of part-2-of-a-trilogys do. i hate that, because invariably it's impossible to access part 3 immediately, so you freak out for like a week because you can't find out what happened, and by the time you *can* get part 3 you don't care anymore. but Carey avoided that with Kushiel by giving poor phedre some peace and quiet. i am, however, totally psyched for book 3, which is coming out soon in paperback. yeeaaahhhh. hyacinthe is one of my favorite characters, and i'm betting phedre finds a way to save him in the third book. i mean, how could she not?
i called the health plan people this morning. got my ID number. i tried calling the eye doctor this morning to make my appointment, but no one answered, so i'll try again in a little while. the eye situation suddenly got more serious this morning when i tore one of my last contacts. so i can't wear just one contact, obviously, so i'm in glasses today. and that'll piss me off, so getting to the eye doctor is now imperative. also, now that i've got the ID number, i'm going to make a doctor's appointment for next week so i can get a checkup and ask all the stupid questions i want to ask. i have a whole list. and then i will have met my doctor, and i will feel comfortable listing this person as my primary care physician. i just don't want to pick some name off a list, you know? so i'm getting all that health stuff taken care of. oh, and i can't freakin' WAIT til i get my dental info. it's been so damn long since i've been to the dentist, and i don't floss so i know it'll be torture, but i don't care because my teeth are scuzzy. i know that thought makes everyone want to make out with me, but oh well.
to do tonight is clean my freakin' room. it's very messy. i also want to CLEAN THE BATHROOM, which is almost as scuzzy as my teeth. ickzor. and i want to hang up the muppet poster in the bathroom, now that i've finally brought it from my mom's house--this is my Swine Trek: The Bath of Pig poster that vinnie gave me like 2136523 years ago, which is my all-time favorite poster and which has been languishing lost in a drawer for ages. but now it is found, and it is laminated, and it will soon be hanging in the bathroom. yeeaaahhhh. i also brought back two other posters that i want to hang in my office, but i want to get poster frames for them first. my really big maxfield parrish poster i want to hang on the wall over the fridge, right in front of my desk, because there's a huge blank space there and it's a pretty huge poster. and i also brought my 1997 PA shakespeare festival poster, which features a large picture of shakespeare wearing a baseball cap and eating a corn dog. which is just fun. so i need to measure those for frames tonight and then stash them away so they'll be safe for the party this weekend.
so: tonight: clean bathroom, clean room. (probably help jorn clean his room too). tomorrow: dinner out with jorn-o for our anniversary! and exchanging presents.
i also have to make the valentine cookies before the party, and do some girly things around the apartment before then too (because there are girly things that make the house look nicer that the boys just wouldn't think of. like when i lit all the candles for the last party, and everyone was like, wow!). oh, and i also have to stop off at the liquor store on mass ave and pick up captain generic's coconut pirate rum. it was surprisingly good, when we got a bottle for chris's party a few weeks ago, besides being considerably cheaper than brand-name coconut rum. so that's the one kind of liquor we still need for the party. if anyone complains about a lack of liquor we will hit them. i am so psyched for this party, let me tell y'all.
