so i fiddled with my journal layout. it's pretty okay. i was under the S1 system, and i really liked the Refried Paper style they had for that, with the pretty greens. but i switched to the S2, and they don't have the pretty green one for that. i switched because it's easier to figure out how to change things using that system, since my html is not too fluent. the silvery gray color scheme is okay for now. i know that i could change the colors individually, but i'm not sure how to figure out exactly which colors they are (the particular green ones i mean), and i know i'll just screw it up if i try fiddling with it without knowing ahead of time the ids for the colors i want. i've done enough for today, i think.

oh, and look--i got my ben folds icon to work. had to cut a few frames, so it doesn't move as smoothly, but it's still rockin'.

weekend was awesome. girly movie night on friday: we watched Under The Tuscan Sun, which we all liked and every boy would hate. so it was perfect. girly movie night included myself, amy, farbs, kris, kris's friend annie, brownies, and some pretty iffy popcorn. it's on the store list now, don't worry--there will be better popcorn for future girly movie nights.

saturday was the bestest day ever!! farbs and i went shopping. we went to tello's on mass ave first, and each got a few things (they're pretty cheap and have some decent stuff). we stopped to pick up my new glasses and contacts (the new glasses! they make me look both cute and smart, as opposed to all the other glasses i've ever had, which made me look both nerdy and... nerdy), then headed to the mall. we just wandered around and shopped all day, because neither of us really *needed* anything in particular. i did get some furry pink slippers for the office, though, and they're awesome. around 5:00 farbs and i realized that neither of us had had any lunch, and we were hella hungry, so we got some sbarro pizza (which took me back to my nights working at Paul Harris, where we have the look that's right for you! and all the times i had sbarro pizza for dinner before my shift).

then even though we were pretty full, we knew we needed cheesecake, so we went to the cheesecake factory, and got seated at a table in the bar area right away. i got the chocolate peanut butter cookie dough cheesecake, and sarah got the hershey's chocolate almond. mine was better, but hers was good too. we had some leftovers that we took back to my place, where we watched White Oleander, since i had rented it for girly movie night. and it was really really surprisingly good. i *loved* the book, a lot a lot, and so had sarah, and from the commercials we were thinking that the movie people had probably ruined the story. but they didn't. understandably, they downplayed the part where 14-year-old astrid has an affair with her much older foster father, but they did include it, and they really captured the feeling of sorrow that pervades the book, and the huge impact of her relationship with her mother. it was really, really good. and after sarah left i played some banjo tooie. saturday was the best day ever.

sunday i was over at Otis house, covering some hours for jen, who recently covered some hours for me, so it was perfect. game night last night was fun, and amy totally made my day by bringing me flowers!! i never get flowers. i have all these pretty vases that just sit around empty. who cares that they were leftover flowers from some thing her office had? she still brought them, and it was sweet, and now there's flowers in a pretty vase in my living room. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE HOW HAPPY FLOWERS CAN MAKE A WOMAN. i'm talking to you, you know.

so yeah. i've been thinking that my life is good right now--good job, nice weather, great friends, great boyfriend, great family, GREAT haircut, travel plans coming up and no money stresses to speak of, and even cute new glasses. i am really, really happy. isn't that great?
