okay, now this will be a good post. sarah b and steve visited this weekend, and we had a lot of fun. they arrived on saturday early afternoon, and we went to the aquarium--sarah, steve, dannbrown, jorn, and i. and it was really cool! we loved the sea dragons and the penguins, and the otters and the balloon fish. good stuff. we stopped at the garage so jorn could hit the japan store and get some more inuyasha manga (and a plush kagome!) and i went to pandemonium and picked up Kushiel's Avatar in paperback (which i finished yesterday).

then we went out for chinese food to hong kong restaurant, which wasn't as good as it was the last time jorn and i went there. although the thing that got screwed up was all jorn's stuff--he wanted a cream soda, he got a club soda (ew--although steve and i were thinking he'd probably get a pepsi with milk in it or something, which would've been worse), and when the waitress brought out the food she said one plate was orange chicken, which was jorn's order, and it turned out to be the lemon chicken, which was steve's order, so steve lost some chicken there. but the sesame chicken was excellent as always, and the crab rangoon was really lovely. at dinner we called miles to see if he wanted to hang out saturday night, but he had already made plans to see a comedy show with benjy at the middle east, so we decided to meet them there. it was a pretty good comedy show--except for that ex-con guy--and the headlining comic was really pretty funny. he would've been funnier if there had been chairs, though, because we had been on our feet all damn day and they really hurt. when we got home around midnight, we all just crashed out.

sunday! sarah and i dropped steve off at the 1369 coffeehouse and we went shopping. first stop was DSW Shoe Warehouse, which was just great. we were there at least an hour and a half, and we each got a pair of shoes from the clearance section. sarah got sexysexy red heels, and i got brown shoes that should be comfy for walking--not the brown sneakery shoes i've been wanting, but still cute brown shoes that will be good with jeans or for work. i really really like them, but it's been snowy so i haven't had a chance to break them in yet. then we stopped at every other shoe store at downtown crossing, but we were pretty wiped out on shoes by that point, so we went to filene's. we were really tired, but we shopped for bras and cute panties and socks, and i got a beautiful classy dress that i'm going to wear to mel & felter's wedding AND to rhett & jeff's. and it was only $30--score! although i'm going to have to buy shoes to match it (we saw a pair at DSW that would be totally perfect) which will probably cost as much as the dress. oh well. i *love* the dress, and it deserves perfect shoes. and a new purse. i've been needing a dressy purse for a while, and here's the occasion.

then sarah and i walked to park street, because it was nice out and a short walk, and took the green line to gov't ctr, and walked from there to the Otis House. i wanted to pick up a book for my dad and also let cathy know i couldn't work for her this weekend. so i got the book, and then we walked to charles/mgh and took the red line back to my place and ordered pizza with the boyz and sarah byers, and then sarah b and steve headed out.

after that, i got together the package i wanted to send for my dad's birthday--i got him the book from Otis House (about Walter Gropius--he really likes Frank Lloyd Wright, so i thought he might like this guy, and we can go visit the Gropius House for free b/c it's an SPNEA property), and a Harvard Law t-shirt, and a cd. i also put in an envelope of stuff for my mom--some Onion clippings, some brochures for things to do in boston, some pictures. and an envelope for lauren, with pictures from missi's mom's wedding. dann mailed it for me on monday, priority mail, so it should be getting there soon. yay.

oh, and i'm so going to order from bmg this month. there's actually a bunch of cds i want.
