the thing that DOES NOT make me happy, however, is the fact that i think my hamster is going to die. last night his one eye was sealed shut, and it looked like some fluid had come out of the eye and run down his fur. the other eye looked puffy. but he was moving around, and i fed him some fresh carrot and made sure he had food up in his penthouse where he sleeps. i just went in now and checked on him, and he's just laying there. i thought he was dead when i touched him, because he's not warm like usual, but he's breathing, and he didn't wake up and run away when i touched him like he usually does. he just laid there and didn't move at all except to sniff a tiny bit. i picked him up even and he didn't move, he was flat. what can i do for him?

from your description, he definitely sounds like he's in death mode. You could, however, wipe off his eyes with a warm washcloth. Also, you could try giving him a little water through a syringe - gently!
