okay. i just went through my receipts (without them in there, my wallet is now completely empty!) to add up how much i spent on AWP, even though i said i wouldn't do that. so here it is.
i ATMed $100 on the monday before i went, but i think i spent some of that on pizza or something, because i distinctly remember not having a full $100. so say i started out with around $70 in my wallet. that sounds about right. a goodly chunk of that went to the cab ride from the airport, sadly, and after that who knows. later in the week i would ATM/cashback another $80. i bought $24 of stuff on my check card, and (here's the fun part) about $70 on my mastercard, not counting the $200+ for the hotel room (or the $200+ for the plane ticket, which i think showed on last month's bill). i have literally no cash left in my wallet because my last four dollars went to tip the maid and to my train ride to the airport (and now i feel like my to/from the airport costs evened out, sort of). so i spent about $236 on non-plane and non-hotel expenses on this trip. more than i had hoped or was planning to spend, but not as bad as it could've been. i ate really good food and bought a truckload of books at pretty good prices (one of which, according to my handwritten MC receipt, was just titled "book"--wonder which one that was?). due entirely to my tax return, i still have some money in my account after writing dylan a rent check. i'm thinking that all the money in my account is going directly to my mastercard without passing go after i get paid on friday.
i'll post a big ol' list of what all i bought sometime, in case you might be interested. i will say, though, that Aimee Nezhukumatathil is my new idol (only five years older than me but she's got a tenure-track teaching job and an awesome first book, and DAMN is she hellacute!!1), and Tony Hoagland has dropped a whole bunch of notches on my favorite poet list (his new book, What Narcissism Means To Me, was incredibly well-titled, although the subtitle should've been I Can't Write About Anything Besides Being Bitter And Old). i'll tell you more later, because maybe i should do some actual work today? or maybe i'll just take a bunch of books i just bought off my amazon wish list. hee.
