I just got a papercut between my thumb and pointer finger on my left hand. Conveniently, that's exactly where the pen rests when I write. It bleeds every time I move my thumb. Rrrgh.
On the silver lining side, this is the worst thing to happen to me today. Which, you know, is annoying, but not so bad when you think about it.
Shopping tonight with farbs! I'm finally, finally going to use my Vicki's gift card. Oh, don't get too excited; I'm going to get something extremely comfortable and practical that I ordinarily could never afford (or rather, refuse on principle to pay so freakin' much for). But today I've got $25 free dollars to spend at Vicki's, and that's almost enough for (*gasp*) an entire bra.
Work is not too bad today. I have several tasks to complete. And you know, tomorrow, party. I'm going to do some cooking when I get back from the mall. Cake making, and crabbie thing preparation. I'll make the guacamole too if Sarah B. ever sends me the recipe.
And I've decided that (at least for the time being) I am going to type journal entries with regular capitalization. This is quite a change for me. Not at all attributable to having recently read Eats Shoots and Leaves. Not at all. But if you haven't read it (I'm looking at you, Alli and Grassy and Sunday), you should go get it right now.
Other things you should all go get: The Magician's Assistant, by Ann Patchett, and The Dogs of Babel, which I think is by a Susan someone but the book is at home and *I can't find it on amazon*!! WDP? Anyway, it's the best book I've read this year. Just amazingly beautiful. And Ann Patchett is one of my new finds as well--The Magician's Assistant was lovely, quiet and wonderful and perfect, and I also just finished Bel Canto, which was also very good but in a different way.
edit: Amazon just got its head out of its ass. The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst. I loved it. /edit
Oh, and I read Tales of the Slayers Vol. 1. It was good, but it made me sad too; I don't know what I was expecting, really, because the whole thing about Slayers (the non-anime kind, at least) is that they die, and the fact that Buffy herself is a Slayer is inseparable from the fact that another Slayer died in order to pass the power on to her. So understandably, most of the stories in the book were about various Slayers dying. There were a few stories about Slayers who were just discovering their powers, but most of them were about how she died. And not all of them were happy she-killed-the-evil-thing-on-her-way-out stories, either, there were at least one or two where the Slayer pretty much died dreadfully and in vain. I enjoyed the ones where at least she kills a bunch of monsters on her way out much more, but on the whole it still made me sad. But I'm also getting ready to order Vols. 2 and 3, because it was a good read. (I'm going to get the comic one at the same time, Jess, when I do order them, because I want to see what that's like too.)

You should read The Dogs of Babel. It was **so good**.
