So here's a long-overdue update. And I'm typing this in Word, so it should be appropriately capitalized too, for once.

Weekend at SU-really, really fun. I was up late Thursday night, writing out stanza forms on note cards so I could study over the weekend while I was away (and of course, I didn't study the note cards at all, but oh well). So I got to bed on Thursday after midnight, and then got up at 5am on Friday morning. I set the alarm for 5 thinking that I'd snooze it for a while before actually waking up all the way, but when it went off I was suddenly wide awake, so I just got up. I was in my car by 6:15, stopped at the bank, and was on my way. With only one stop for gas in WV, I made it to Selinsgrove by 1:30pm. I stopped by to see my old professor, Tom Bailey, and also to see Cindy, the Human Resources secretary whom I used to work with and who is a freakin' cool person. Then I wandered down to Phi Mu Alpha, saw Bill and Belkot and Crawford, who was all excited to see me. Since it was spring weekend, they were all busy slicing fruit and putting it to soak in vodka overnight. Then I went out with Adam and Erin to the liquor store and then out to Shikellemy Overlook, and we hung out up there and looked over for a while. This is funny--we were leaning on the fence, looking out over Sunbury, when I sneezed, and my sunglasses tumbled from the top of my head right off and over the fence and down the embankment. We all just leaned over farther to watch them fall. I miss those sunglasses--they only cost like seven bucks at Ames or something, and I kept having to repair them, but I liked them.

So anyway. After that, I went out to dinner with Stina, Janel, and Abigail (my two little sisters and my great-grandlittle) at BJ's! and I ate bongo dip and drank a strawberry margarita. Then we hung out at Stina's house for the rest of the night and helped her make nametags for the 75th, and Abigail started making letters. She made a lot. We were up till 2 or so.

Saturday. Got up around 7:30am, showered, went to the SAI house with Stina. I got to see lots of people and I met a bunch of older alums who talked about what SU was like in their day. The oldest lady was 84-she had pledged SAI in 1932, only five years after we became a chapter. And we found a scrapbook from back then, and there were pictures of this lady when she was the May Queen, and it was awesome. At dinner Saturday night, I got to sit with Stina and Janel and Adri and Abigail and Erica, so it was almost my whole little family, plus Suzie satan, who feels like part of the family anyway. :) and then we dragged all my descendants out on the lawn to take a big picture of my family! I'm so excited to get the film developed.

Saturday night, after dinner, we went to Susan Lischner's recital, which completely rocked my world--she is *so* talented. And then to the Musical Theatre Cabaret, which was cute and funny. By this point, I was pretty sick of music and performances and the SAI chorale. Sat around at Stina's for a while trying to decide what we were going to do that night, till Stina finally decided she was going to go to the Nary's (if you don't know, you probably don't want to know), and since I didn't want to go to that, I decided to head down to the spring weekend festivities at Phi Mu Alpha. I got to see David T Little and Crawford and Adri and Belkot, and I did shots with my great-grandlittle Abigail! Which was funny, because she had never done a shot before, so she was *so* cute. and I got to hang out with Peter, a freshman boy--when he was a prospective visiting campus, I gave him and his parents their campus tour. The next time I saw him after that was last semester, drinking at PMA, which was pretty funny. But he's a very cool guy, and I'm not sorry I kissed him drunkenly either (to which Jorn said, "you kissed a freshman??"). So I had a really good time, and I'm not sure quite why I had such a good time, but I did. I got to bed around 4am at Stina's house.

Sunday morning I got up at 10 so I could get ready to meet Kari at Perkins at 11. This is the one part of the weekend I feel really shitty about. I was all excited to go see her, but I hadn't gotten enough sleep, so my stomach revolted. Yes, in Perkins. I thought I would be okay, but I order only two eggs over easy and toast just to be safe, but the eggs were all rubbery and kind of gross, and when i ate them my tummy just got upset. I nearly puked right on the table, nearly made poor Kari puke in the process, but was able to hold it back long enough to make it to the bathroom. I felt much better after that, but we ran into David Little in the lobby, and of course he heard the whole story about my not being in control of my damned stomach at breakfast, and I feel like he probably thinks less of me now. Oh well. I was able to eat my whole breakfast after that, and it was pretty good, although cold by that point. Then we went back to Kari's house and got Jorn's computer all packed up to drive home with me, and then I headed out. Stopped at Sheetz to get a bottle of water and some pepto tablets, puked in the bathroom there, and then felt better (again). And then I took some pepto as soon as I got out to the car, and that settled my tummy right down for the rest of the day. I even ate a burger from burger king, and the greasiness tasted so good. So the ride home wasn't even bad. I do feel horrible that I nearly puked on Kari in the middle of Perkins. That's not something one should do to a good friend, especially when I hadn't seen her in so long, and especially when I'm almost 23 and should be fucking able to hold my liquor by now, AND plan ahead for Sunday mornings. I would've thought the terrible incident with my parents senior year would've taught me THAT. She was really sweet about it though. sigh.

So that's my weekend. And I've been freaking tired all week because of it, but I had a great time.

so what’s been going on with me this week? Monday night, Jorn helped me study for my stanza forms test. he now knows way more about sonnets than he ever wanted to, but I got a 92 on the test! the ones I got wrong (in case you were wondering) was the Rubaiyat Stanza (I put heroic couplets, because I’m a moron who doesn’t check over my answers, and if I had checked over I never would’ve put that because heroic couplets rhyme AA and a Rubaiyat stanza rhymes AAXA!!), and one of the sonnets--I put that it was a nonce sonnet (ie, not any particular type of sonnet, just a 14-line poem with a rhyme scheme particular to that poem), but alas, it was a Miltonic sonnet, which I don’t think was very fair since he had already had a Miltonic sonnet on the test. he said he would’ve taken either Miltonic or Petrarchan (they’re pretty much the same thing, just that there’s no stanza break in the Miltonic, while the Petrarchan breaks between the octave and the sestet), but it was the rhyme pattern that screwed me up and made me think it was something else, so I still don’t think it was very fair. but whatever, I don’t care, I got my phucking A.

so the test was Tuesday morning, and Tuesday night I went to work at the HLC till 7pm, then went grocery shopping and then to Jorn’s in a big ol’ rush. Wednesday night I rushed around sneakily in order to move Jorn’s new table into his apartment and have it assembled before he got home from work, and he was pleasantly surprised. then we went out for a date! we had pizza at CiCi’s, which is an all-you-can-eat pizza place that actually has pretty decent pizza for cheap. and then we went to Target and got him decent black dress shoes and *black socks* so that he can be professional at work on Monday. I am so proud of him, by the way, with this new job and stuff, and he didn’t even whine at all when we out shoe shopping. and you all know how he feels about shopping, and about owning more than one pair of shoes. but in a “very professional work environment” like the one he’s going to be working in, one cannot be wearing brown shoes and white socks with one’s black dress pants. so he shopped admirably, and apparently the shoes are pretty comfortable. then we went to the movies and saw The Scorpion King, which I mentioned before. it was a great night, the only downside of which was that someone forgot his wallet in his apartment and so his girlfriend had to pay for everything. but it’s all good, because he’ll just write me a nice check. :) oh, and the other bad thing was that i somehow ripped a great big hole in the seat of my jeans. but i think it's mendable. i'll be mending it, in any case. i just can never wear those jeans around my mother ever again, because she'll think i'm so poor and try to give me money.

yesterday was a superfun day! I spent the whole day eating and hanging out in my professors’ backyards! both my professors decided to have the last class of the semester at their houses, so from 11 to 2, I was at one professor’s house, and he ordered a lovely lunch for us from Jack’s Corner, and it was ymmuy. and from 2 till 8 I was at my other professor’s house, workshopping poems and then drinking champagne and eating pizza. it was a really, really great day.

tonight: Hanging out at Jorn’s. I plan to eat cheese and watch a movie and phucking RELAX.
tomorrow: Work at Blandwood 10 to 2 (and get paid for it even!), then stop by the store for cake mix, then make the cake and decorate it, then go to the potluck dinner at Nancy’s house. after that, laundry and pant-mending and another exciting Saturday night.
Sunday: Sleeping in, reading the paper, and working at Blandwood 2 till 5. then eating some dinner, calling my mom, and going to the SAI mtg at 8pm.
Monday: Finally getting together with Dr. Langenfeld to talk about the summer assistantship hours and stuff, and the make-up workshop, and possibly work at CASA, and definitely work at HLC. woo!
somewhere in there: write a paper on T.S. Phucking Eliot.

way too much running around to do--all week long, and this weekend, and next week too. argh.
