in other news, i bought myself a pair of birkenstocks yesterday. i really, really needed new sandals that would be good for walking around, since my last pair of knock-off birks bit it last fall, so i thought this time i'd just break down and get the real thing. i had thought i would need a pair with an ankle strap, because i always needed the ankle strap when i was wearing the knock-off birks because otherwise i would walk right out of them. but! the wonder of the real-thing birks is that they actually fit one's feet. i tried a pair of the non-ankle-strap variety in the narrow width, just to see if that would work for me, and OMG. they rule, yo. just in case, i'm only going to wear them around the house for the next sevensix days, because the store has a seven-day return policy. and the rox does not drop $90 lightly on a single pair of shoes. but i think the fact that i have not yet felt guilty about spending the aforementioned sum (when usually i'm second-guessing myself before i'm even out of the store) already speaks for itself.

i also hit newbury comics yesterday (no more willow figs yet) and urban outfitters (i ain't spending $48 on a skirt no matter how damn cute it is). i avoided pandemonium, because as much as i want to be supporting them i just do not need another fantasy novel this week. i still have another ursula leguin, after all, besides all the "real" lit sitting on my shelf glowering at me and waiting to be read. but then on the way home, i stopped at tello's, and got a supercute hot pink skirt (i know! can you believe it?) for only $10. and it's comfy. i'm wearing it today.

Blue Sword reread

i reread The Blue Sword last night. i <3 Robin McKinley. now i want to reread The Hero & The Crown again, but i won't. i can practically recite it anyway. no, what i want is a brand-new Damar story. but she will not write one. she's so mean!.... meh.
