supercheesegirl: (jorn rox love)
Hi. I'm back from the weekend. Friday Jorn and I drove down to PA--left around 5, got to my mom's house around 1:30, so we made good time in spite of the traffic and even with a 45 minute dinner stop at a Friendly's. Saturday we picked Kate up at the airport and I won't say anything more about that because even thinking about the airport is making me upset. I never want to think about that again, and once I pay the stupid ticket I won't have to. The wedding was great. It was different to be the guest of a guest, I haven't had that experience before--either I've been a relative or I've been the invited guest and Jorn was my guest. So it was kind of like having the outside perspective on the wedding. Bob and Amy are so lucky; they clearly love each so much and have so many people who love them. Everyone was crying.

Sunday we mostly hung around. Laur came over. Everyone liked Kate. She's likeable like that. Mom and I went to AC Moore that night and I got some stuff I've been meaning to get. If it works out I'll let you know. I also got Mindy a new sweater and she's totally excited about it. Monday morning we stopped at Walmart even though Jorn thinks it's evil because I can't find the photo albums I like anywhere else, so I stocked up. Then we drove back. A pretty uneventful drive, but Jorn had me cracking up the whole way. After I turned the wheel over to him, I played the best and longest snake game evar on my cell phone. Usually I don't have the time to devote to it. Monday night we got pizza and I tidied and finished my photo album from vacation this summer. Yay.

Yesterday was my Jeopardy tryout! Needless to say, I didn't make the cut, but I did acquit myself rather admirably, I think. I answered all the lit questions correctly except for one, and I got several of the history questions and general pop culture questions. I only left a few blanks, and there were only a few questions where three hours later I smacked myself in the head and exclaimed "Crap! The Etruscans!" or something. And there were several questions that I guessed on and then found out from other tryouters that I'd been correct. Overall I was glad I did it--I feel like I did better this time than I did the time I went for college Jeopardy, and I'll try it again next time they're in the area.

Yesterday then went on to be a really good Rox day. I sat down and clipped all the damn coupons that have been building up for five weeks. Clipping all the coupons in this case amounts to also tidying up the living room. Very good. Then I did DDR with Dann for a few hours, took a quick shower, cleaned my room some more (it's almost livable now), and read a non-Inca-related book for an hour. Of course, I have a ton of Inca homework hanging over my head since my paper is due next week and I'm not even done reading this week's assignments let alone next week's, but it'll get done. Then around 7 we left our house and went up to Harvard to stop at Newbury Comics, and I ran into Kris and Darxus--yay! I then got to eat a bagel and find Tadd's new place and play a board game I've never played before. Overall, a good day yesterday.

Today I'm at work, of course. Trying to catch up on el jay stuff, which isn't going to happen, probably. If something important happened in your journal since Friday, link me, because I doubt I'll see it otherwise. Now: off to lunch!

Emily, I was thinking of you in class tonight--we talked about Inca weaving techniques, and our guest speaker brought all these examples from the Peabody Museum of different kinds of pieces. Such beautiful stuff, and their looms were so simple. But now I feel like I understand a lot better what you're talking about in your weavy posts. Warps and wefts and double weaves and stuff. You would've liked to see alot of the pieces I got to see tonight.

And right before class, [livejournal.com profile] myras_girls clued me in that Angel season 1 is on sale on amazon for only $14.99--score! I snapped that up right away. My poor mastercard never gets a break. But how could I pass up a sale like that?

I am in a much better mood than I was in earlier. This is partly due to the good class and partly due to the showers of affection Jorn bestowed on me when I got home. I'm not going to question it. I am, however, going to kick Dylan off the TV as soon as the debate is over so I can watch Top Model.
