Emily, I was thinking of you in class tonight--we talked about Inca weaving techniques, and our guest speaker brought all these examples from the Peabody Museum of different kinds of pieces. Such beautiful stuff, and their looms were so simple. But now I feel like I understand a lot better what you're talking about in your weavy posts. Warps and wefts and double weaves and stuff. You would've liked to see alot of the pieces I got to see tonight.

And right before class, [livejournal.com profile] myras_girls clued me in that Angel season 1 is on sale on amazon for only $14.99--score! I snapped that up right away. My poor mastercard never gets a break. But how could I pass up a sale like that?

I am in a much better mood than I was in earlier. This is partly due to the good class and partly due to the showers of affection Jorn bestowed on me when I got home. I'm not going to question it. I am, however, going to kick Dylan off the TV as soon as the debate is over so I can watch Top Model.

You should see the thing she's weaving now. It's amazing. I'm sure she'll post pictures at some point. It's hard to believe she's only been doing this a few months.

If you guys ever come to visit, we'll go to this museum. I don't know how much of the stuff I saw last night is actually on display, but we just saw little pieces--apparently they've got really large stuff too.

I've been wanting to go to your inca class all along, but now I *really* wish I could have been there. That sounds amazing.

My sister has a friend -- seems like her name is Colette or something, it's been years -- who's spent lots of time down in inca lands as an archaeologist digging up some of the oldest inca textiles. I would love to see some up close.

It was very cool. Of course we couldn't touch anything, but we could still see the weave pretty well. You know they never cut any of their cloth? Any holes or shapes or scalloped edges they just wove into it. And most of the stuff we saw was woven to be worn by mummies--that's how they found it, in tombs. You would've loved to chat with our guest speaker, too, she's also a weaver and I think does some modern recreations of Andean stuff. I thought about you the whole time. :)

How gross was the "ANTM" on her ass? The look on Janice's face was priceless!

Oh and Angel YAY!!!!

I can't BELIEVE they didn't eliminate her after that stunt. What Julie said last week was foolish, but this was trashy and unprofessional.

And are you getting sick of listening to them argue about nothing? They argued about nothing for almost half the show last night!

On another note, my roommate Dylan, instead of hiding in his room, periodically shrieking along with the TV ("OOH! It's TYRA!"), and peeking out to watch when he thought I wasn't looking (this has been the trend ever since last season), actually sat on the couch with me and watched the episode. He agreed that they should've eliminated Jenniphwhore. Teehee. Maybe I'm making a convert...
