Shopping with Amy
Dec. 6th, 2004 01:02 pmI did *so much* shopping yesterday. Amy (aka "The Girl Who Loves Bags"--she thought that was so funny, btw) and I left my place around 10:30ish in the morning and headed up to Burlington to do some holiday shopping. We did the mall first, and got a lot of shopping done--I know she got a few things for her bf and something for her difficult uncle and some other things, and I got something for Jorn (but I'm not telling!!!) and a little thing for my mom, and something for Sarah Batt, and just generally a lot of stuff. We had lunch at Johnny Rocket's somewhere around 12-12:30, and left the mall around 3:30-4:00.
( Even more shopping occurred after we left the mall. ) It was almost 9pm by the time I actually sat down. Sigh. I'm psyched about decorating the tree, though. I'm going to put it in the kitchen, since I already cleared off the table in there that generally holds the mess and put a happy penguin tablecloth on it. I have all my holiday ornaments here in Boston, too. I told Dann I had been looking for a menorah tree topper, so that the tree could be welcoming to all our roommates, but I couldn't find one, so he should feel free to hang dreidels on the thing instead. He said that was okay, and pointed out that his menorah isn't exactly interactive. At which point Jorn and I threatened to tape various christmas trees, Jesuses, Easter bunnies, and Lincoln logs to his menorah. I love my roommates.
And this morning, I was all excited to wear my new stripey brown tights because they were so hellacute. And I put them on, and they totally didn't fit. There were these big seams up the ass that made it so the legs were too short because the seams didn't stretch, so I couldn't get the tights up all the way. I even made a point of checking the size--these were in fact Women's Tights (not Girls'), and they were a size L/XL, supposed to fit anyone 5'6"-6'0", 145-180lbs. If they didn't fit *me* (5'7" and 150lbs), I would really like to see a six foot tall 180-pound woman try to squeeze into these fuckers. I'm a little pissed about the complete waste of money. And I was so excited because I haven't seen any tights this cute yet this year--they were nice and thick to be warm, and horizontal-stripey, and just really cute. I haven't been to Filene's in a while, though, so maybe there'll be something nice waiting for me in the basement. Sigh. Overall, though, shopping was a complete success--there's only a few more things I need to get. And of course I keep finding more things to buy for Jorn. Have to stop that...
