I'm seriously considering getting one of these. Ordinarily I wouldn't even think about it, but last night I was out having dinner with EE at Crazy Dough's, and the TV on the wall was playing White Chicks at an insanely loud volume. We sat as far away from the TV as we could, like at the bar area in the corner, but we still kept getting sucked into watching the movie. Even though she had never heard of it and I had up til then been vehemently against seeing it, and we both thought it was stupid, we still kept watching it instead of talking to each other. It was very frustrating, and at the time I decided that I probably would not want to go back to that restaurant, even though their pizza was really good, because the mind pollution was so dreadful. But with one of these nifty little devices, I wouldn't have a problem. I think I'll look into it further after the holidays, when I have some money again. Thanks to
ert for posting the link.

yoga / limerick voting!
Dec. 16th, 2004 03:43 pmToday, being my last yoga class for three weeks, is of course the day when I make some major breakthroughs. I managed a tough catch, one I'd never even thought to reach for before, on a position I'm not even very good at, and getting the catch immediately stabilized my balance. So much better. Gene even complimented me! And my reach is getting so much better on so many poses. I wish there were classes next week, at least, so I could try some of these new things again. I've been feeling so strong lately, and my arms are looking less fleshy and I think my legs are too. I'm really pleased with what the yoga's been doing to me lately. And now I get no more yoga for three weeks! Meh! And I know I'll be too busy to do it on my own, too. Sigh.
Have I mentioned how much I like craisins? And craisins combined with David Bowie is just bliss.
Pimpage: The Alli has finally posted the voting for her Limerick Contest! Several of my limericks have been nominated, as well as some other really excellent ones. I encourage you to go read limericks and vote for the best ones!!

I've decided I'm going to the movies by myself tonight. I really, really want to see Finding Neverland, and I'd like to see it in the theatre and I don't know how much longer it'll be playing. I need to go downtown to pick up Jorn's mom's christmas present from B&N anyway, so I might as well make an event of it. Farbs and I were going to go see it together, but she's been sick and just so busy. So I'm going to catch a 7:20 show (at the Loew's Boston Common, if anyone wants to surprise-meet me). Really, what would I be doing tonight instead? Sitting on my ass playing nintendo is what I'd be doing. It's possible I would wrap gifts, which is the last major holiday thing I need to do, but it's more likely I'd sit on my ass playing nintendo. Cleaning my room would probably not happen, and reading my Incas homework would also probably not happen. It feels kind of selfish to go to the movies by myself just because I want to see the movie. Like it's justifiable if I'm meeting friends and it's a social outing, but not as justifiable when it's just a treat for me.
While we're on the subject of treats for me, I really want to schedule a massage with Maddie (she's a professional massage therapist and also a good friend who will give me a discount!). I still have never gotten a real massage from her, and now would be such a good time because I've been doing such interesting things to my back in yoga class and it would be good to make sure everything's all in the right places. I'm just betting there'll be no way I could schedule it before we go home for the holidays. Saturday I'll be at Otis House all day, and Sunday I think I'm heading out to see Sarah B for the day. Monday and Tuesday nights are free, though. I need to get a haircut, too, before the holidays, but maybe I'll see what Maddie is doing next week. Hmm.
Jorn, do you want to exchange gifts tomorrow night? I'll compromise and not be a nazi about wrapping your gifts so that we can exchange sooner. I'm excited. Also, do you maybe want to go to Target tomorrow night?
