I was meaning to post all day that I did a responsible good thing today. I went in to work late (no, that's not the responsible part, wait for it) because I stopped at the bank to open a savings account. See, I had to close the one I had in PA that I'd had since I was 14 because it was in, well, PA, and I don't live there anymore and so couldn't access it regularly, and also the minimum balance was $500 so because I didn't have the minimum they were charging me $5 a month. I figure I lost about $60 this way because I had to wipe my savings to get this apartment a year ago. Grr. So I finally closed that account, and I realized that I had enough extra cash to start a new savings account provided the minimum balance wasn't too high. And it wasn't. I now have a savings account, associated with my checking account so that I can move money into and out of it easily at the ATM. W00t.
In other news, I realized once again that I'm an editor!geek on the T ride home tonight. I was looking at this poster about a long-distance phone plan, and it said "PLEASURE vs. PAIN" in big letters. And I was looking at it, thinking that they had used two different fonts for "pleasure" and "pain", but then I realized that they were in fact the same font, they just *looked* a bit different since in "pleasure" there's an L and two Es and an S and in this particular font the serifs curved attractively on these letters, while "pain" only contains letters that had very straight edged serifs. Also "pain" was several points larger. I looked closer and realized that in fact all the lettering on the sign was done in this font. I couldn't name the font, though. Close to two years ago, I would've been able to, but I've lost almost all the font of knowledge (HA! a Milesworthy pun) I gleaned from my publishing class. Still, I'm a big nerd.
Tonight I played the Buffy game for a while--I couldn't get past the damn quarry, so I decided to start a new character from the beginning and see if I could get some of the secrets I'd missed with the first character. Then Dann came out and I suggested we play multiplayer, but something happened--when I hit the reset button, the goddamned son of a cock ass PS2 erased my fucking game again. This is the second time it's done this. Now the game I started tonight (and played through level 3) is gone completely, and the first game is back at the Magic Box Revisited when it *was* at the quarry. I hadn't even *touched* game A tonight, and I didn't hit reset when the "saving; don't hit reset" message was on the screen, either. There's no reason for it to fucking do that. I could hardly enjoy the multiplayer game stuff because I was so pissed off at the fucking machine. There should've been like 10 more characters available for us to use, but no. I guess it's okay, since I was going to play the game through to the quarry again anyway, but still. It's the principle of thing. (Hey Alli: do you have any tips for me on beating Kakistos at the end of the quarry level? He's a real asshole.)
I'm completely zonked so I'm going to sleep now.

Honestly, keep moving. Basically we won by going around in a circle. You hit one, then start moving to the next one. Eventually you can get the pattern, but going in a circle seems to work.
That level did suck.
