Hey to any of y'all who are Harvard-affiliated (which I guess would just be allthefishies and tisana, but all the rest of you can feel enlightened too, I guess): I just went over to the MAC and signed up for fall recreation classes and got the schedule. It's $30 for non-students for the semester, but only $50 for two semesters, so I went with both. Don't forget to go do this so you can go to classes and stuff. Tisana, Fishies and I are going to be doing the Monday evening Pilates if you want to join us. :)

I also picked up the schedule for the ballroom and latin dance classes. They appear to cost $50 per 8-week session, and you have to sign up with a partner. The brochure says you can have a non-MAC-member partner, but then it costs $65 for the session for that person. The brochure also says something about a discount if you take multiple classes or if you've paid the MAC general recreation class fees, but it doesn't seem totally clear to me. Tisana, if you still want to do a class, I'll do it with you--especially if a discount applies--so get over there and pick up the info. These classes don't start til October, and the registration is October 4. edit: Dude, I can fax you the brochure, want me to?

I'm also still sort of thinking about taking ballet at that studio in Harvard Square. Don't know if anyone else in interested in doing that with me. Though I've now missed the first few classes of the adult introductory session, so I might wait til spring. Meh.

Yes! Thank you! I'm having the damnedest time trying to find anything out from them, they're so not helpful.

I was actually talking to my sweetie about dance classes--he'd really like to dance with me...sorry. If it's $30 for non-students, then $50 for a class...what is it for non-Harvard folks? It's gone up quite a bit since last year, wow. Do you happen to know the schedule? Email me at cheshirekatrina at yahoo, I'll send a fax number...thanks again!

Let me guess...I got your email, but the one I sent you never reached you. Others seem to have not gotten emails I sent out today, too... Annoying.

I got it, I just got it really late. I just sent the fax, so you should have the info now. :)

I love taking dance. Tap is my all time favorite dance. It's like dance + making music with your feet. <3

I'm taking a break from classes right now so I can get some other things accomplished. But I miss it. Before I broke my finger I was looking at belly dancing but that relies on your hands and I am still unable to bend my finger. Maybe in January!

I've been thinking about belly dance a little bit... two girls on my F-list take belly dance classes and they really like it. The only dance I've really had was a one-semester class in college. I liked doing tap in that class, though, and I wasn't too bad at it (unlike ballet, which was completely hilarious, but my teacher had a good sense of humor). I'd really like to try african dance sometime, too.

I have only taken a mini-class in ballet and I sucked at it. ha ha! It's so exact! Otherwise I've taken jazz and tap. I've taken tap for years and it's so much fun which is why it's my favorite.

African dance would be fun, too!

My mom tried me in a ballet class when I was three. Apparently I spun around all by myself in a corner with my arms over my head, occasionally flinging out a leg, pretending to be pirouetting, ignoring the teacher and all the other little girls, and calling out "Look at me, I'm dancing!" The teacher told my mom that maybe I was still a little young to be taking a dance class, and Mom was too embarrassed to ever bring me back. All I remember about the whole experience was that my leotard was blue and had Smurfette on it. Thus, I avoided all dance classes until my senior year of college. :)
