i would like to say, for the record, that when i went to the second advising session last night, i got to advise this really nice boy who was all excited about coming to UNCG. he wanted to major in sociology and women's studies, and he was finding good classes (that both sounded interesting and were appropriate for his class level), and he was all excited about it. i also got to completely make his night by telling him that since he got a 5 on the AP English test (a man after my own heart, obviously), then that counts as three separate classes (nine credit hours), filling three requirements that he won't have to fill now. he also got a 5 on AP Chemistry and might be able to milk 8 credit hours out of that. and talking to him just lifted my spirits right up. not like that other boy. *sticks out tongue*
in other news, i got a lot done today!! i got up early, showered, shaved everything (for the beach this weekend), put on a pretty dress, and then took my car out for an oil change. then i went to two temp agencies (the reason for the pretty dress--what, you don't think i'm trying to impress the mechanic??). jorn's temp agency made an appointment for me for monday morning, and at xina's agency someone explained very nicely that they just aren't getting any short-term positions, and she said i shouldn't go through the whole application process because it would be kind of a waste of time. the only thing they had was a company's yearly event-- the job was taking tickets and stuff, and i would've done it except that the thing takes place while i'll be in vegas. oh well. but after the temp agencies i went to the store and got sunscreen and saline and some other stuff i needed (and another birthday present for jorn!! but it was only $2, so don't yell), and now i'm at the ELT office. i'm getting to do some proofreading on this huge-ass book that we're publishing! i'm excited, even though some of the material is kind of dry to read. i also have a big stack of proofs to read at home on my own time (guess what i'll be reading on the beach?). but all in all, i'm pretty satisfied with what i've accomplished today. i'm heading out now to go pack for the trip! woohoo.
