Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does:

Possibly the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Or J.Lo's On tha 6. I know, I know. Here's a better one: Fleming and John's Delusions of Grandeur : not humiliating, and also not likely to be owned by anyone else. Um, The Resophonics? I've got Diamonds in the Ground.

Name a book you own that no one else on your friends list does:

Um, Inca Myths by Gary Urton. I could keep going, but that's almost like cheating. How about the Chicago Manual of Style? Or Oyl by Denise Duhamel and Maureen Seaton?

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no one else on your friends list does:

Monsoon Wedding. Or Red Sonja. If any of you own that one I'll eat my hat.

Name a place that you have visited that no one else on your friends list has:

How about Yeats's grave in Ireland? Or the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Niagara Falls, NY? Silver Strand beach in Glencolumbkille, Ireland? OKAY, let's try... the crypt of St. Michan's Church in Dublin, and the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas, and... the Mayan ruins in Tulum, Mexico. For some reason I'm going in threes.

::edit:: I'm editing this as people reply and prove me wrong. :)

sorry. i've been to all of those places, actually :P

I almost don't believe you. Silver Strand is so specific! But see the edits, I've added some more...

i know how specific silver strand is- which is why i was so surprised you'd been there!

i'm in the middle of doing a bunch of editing and critiquing for members of my class (which is in three hours) but, i'll check those updates soon.

We musta gone on the same trip. :)

when i was 15 i was a People to People Student Ambassador to the British Isles for a month and we went EVERYWHERE which is why the whole thing makes a lot of sense. I've also been to Ireland four times, France twice, and England 5 times. We're bound to run into the same things, you know?

Date: 2004-10-14 01:38 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
Okay, I guess. I've only been to Ireland twice, sadly. Thou art more widely travelled.

Date: 2004-10-14 12:40 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] myras-girls.livejournal.com
I have/ have done none of those things!

Date: 2004-10-14 12:54 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
I recommend them all!

I have J.Lo's "On the 6." And I think I have the Chicago Manual of Style. And I've seen Monsoon Wedding, but I don't own it. :D

Ooh, I forgot about you and Alli being editorial types. But it is good to know I'm not the only J. Lo-loving weirdo out there...

Yeah, you're not alone. ;)

Actually, I own the tape of Dirty Dancing, that should count as the same.

Pretty sure I was at Yeats' grave, too. Wait...no, that was his house/castle thingie, north of Galway. If he was buried there, I have been.

Date: 2004-10-14 12:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
He's actually buried in a graveyard somewhere else. I've been to his Tower too, though. :)

i have the fleming and john cd. but then, i heard about them because of ben folds (john mark painter did some work on folds' fear of pop album, and i'm pretty sure he was on rockin' the suburbs too.).

as to the rest, i'll admit defeat. but dammit, i have a friend on my list that has red sonja. shouldn't that count for half credit?

Date: 2004-10-14 12:56 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] igorxa.livejournal.com
oh, and also, i have an open invitation to come visit friends in ireland, so maybe one day i'll see the yeat's stuff.

Date: 2004-10-14 01:01 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
Son of a cock-ass! I got the Fleming and John cd only because I heard them open for BFF when I saw them on the Reinhold Messner tour. Pretty good cd. Way better than Train, anyway, who was the other opening band and whom we made fun of mercilessly.

No half-credit for you!! :)

Date: 2004-10-14 01:03 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] igorxa.livejournal.com
i also like their cd the pearl. god, that woman can wail. just awesome.

and yeah, train sucks ass.

Date: 2004-10-14 01:09 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
During their whole set, their lead guy kept whipping out different instruments, playing lame solos, and then putting them back down. If he learned to play one instrument well instead of a dozen poorly then he might not suck so bad.

During the show:
Guy: Our next song... is gonna be...
Us: SHITTY!!
People around us near wet themselves laughing. But Ben made it all worthwhile, of course.

Do you know how easy this meme would be for me? I wouldn't even have any fun filling it out.

Date: 2004-10-14 01:10 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
I know, honey. I think you should do it anyway, though, because I want to know where you've been. Oh, wait, Australia. Never mind, you don't have to bother. :)

Date: 2004-10-14 01:17 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] painkiller.livejournal.com
I was actually going to say Jacquet River, New Brunswick, but I doubt anyone's been to Wollongong, New South Wales, either. =-)

Date: 2004-10-14 01:36 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
I've been to neither, either. :)

Date: 2004-10-14 01:10 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] myras-girls.livejournal.com
So far no one has disputed me. ha ha!

Date: 2004-10-14 03:24 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] amedia.livejournal.com
(jumping up and down) me me me! I've been to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas, too! My in-laws sent hubby & me there one year as a treat (and they kept the kiddo for us too, yay).

Date: 2004-10-15 07:19 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] supercheesegirl.livejournal.com
I bet Emrys was thrilled about that! But wasn't it fun? I drank a Deanna Troi chocolate drink at the bar, and my dad just had to get a Romulan ale and the flaming ribs of Targ. And my friend's dad got married there. In uniform and everything. The pictures are hilarious.
