So what's the deal with el jay today? It doesn't want to work, and it won't let me comment on anything going on over at
nonuglygamers. There's voting to be done! Frustrationzorz!
Last night was insane but really fun. I left work at 4:15, booked it to John & Nick's to pick up my car (I love John and Nick! and Paul who also works there but is not eponymous!). Car was not that expensive, and it has all the appropriate mirrors. I <3 my new mechanics. I drove home, was in the house for approx. 3 minutes to drop off my backpack, pee, say hi to Dann and his new sweatshirt, and grab my earmuffs. Then I rushed off to the T, rode to Porter, and rushed from the T to Judy Jetson's. I <3 my stylist. Linda = teh greatest. It ended up being a bit shorter than I had planned, but it's cute (although today of course I'm having my obligatory day-after-haircut I-hate-my-hair moment, but it's really not bad).
THEN I rushed off to Susanna's. She was having a pumpkin carving get-together, and as it was a BYOP event I'd been lugging a small pumpkin around with me through all the earlier trials and tribulations (but just a small pumpkin, I mean, I know my limits). Once I got to Sue's I met her friends Sara(h) and Monica and Nina, and they were all really nice. We dyed Sue's hair with cherry kool-aid, since she is also being Jessica Rabbit for Halloween (completely independently of you, Rae, not sure how it happened), and then we carved pumpkins. Now, before arriving at Sue's house I hadn't realized a certain fact: I never carved a pumpkin before. Can you believe it? Sue & co. couldn't. I guess we just never did that my house when I was a kid? Or else my dad always did it. But dood, it was totally fun. I gave him a rather traditional pumpkin face with triangle eyes and nose and a mouth with three teeth, and he's adorable. Susanna carved her pumpkin so that it looked sick and she gave it a huge mouth and is planning on keeping some pumpkin guts she can arrange artistically to look like pumpkin vomit. Sue's friend Nina had a huge pumpkin and she carved it to look like an alien, it was so cool, and she's going to put green glowsticks in it instead of a candle, and Monica made hers really happy and excited. Sara(h) took pictures, and hopefully Sue will email them to me today. And then I will post them for you and you will be so HAPPY!!! dee da deedeedee da dee....
Tonight I don't think I'm going to make it out to Salem. I was really really hoping to but this week has just been insane and I'm feeling couch-floppy. I think on the way home I'll stop at CVS (get hair stuff and a litter box!) and Hidden Sweets and the eye doctor (where are my replacement lenses??) and maybe Tello's because I've been meaning to hit their fall sale, and I'll also stop at Blockbuster to rent Van Helsing and whatever else strikes my fancy. Then tonight I will paint my nails for the party tomorrow. I purchased the perfect shade of pale pink to go with my dress. Wow, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say--well, I guess I still haven't *said* it. That's all right then.
To do tomorrow:
- wake up at a decent hour
- shower and shave everything
- bake a delicious cake! (for Mario)
(...actually, I should get started on the baking tonight. Or at least the pudding-making. Y'all will be so impressed by this cake, I can't even wait to show you.)
- get over to Whole Foods because they're having a big anniversary sale and everything is going to be the same price as it was when they first opened in the '70s so that means ASS-CHEAP.
- Party on, Wayne. I should stop at the liquor store tomorrow, too. I think I'm in the mood for some Skyy Citrus and cranberry juice. Ymmuy.
In honor of Halloween I'm using my Gruntilda witchy icon. She's so awesome. Reh!
